Bleach London Silver Shampoo

I love my ombre hair, but sometimes the colour doesn't look quite right. When I changed my hair colour, I leaped and went straight from almost 'black' dark hair to blonde. Since the dramatic hair colour change, the tips of my hair have a tendency to look brassy and far from the blonde locks I previously desired. Although I do have the option to continue bleaching my hair, I'm trying my hardest not to as it is causing a lot of damage. My hair is taking long to dry due to my split ends, my hair falls out when I comb it and some days it lacks the vitality it had when it was darker. When I studied hairdressing I used purple shampoo all the time on my blonde clients, but when it came to myself, purchasing purple shampoo has always been an after thought. A few days ago I was walking through Boots and came across the Bleach London Silver Shampoo (link). It was the first time in awhile that I had seen purple shampoo on the high street and since I had heard so many good things about  the Bleach London brand, I thought I would give this a go.

For those who have never heard of Bleach London, they are a London based salon that have recently took the high street by storm with the line of crazy do it yourself hair colours and home bleaches. They have the most fantastic packaging and have received lots of attention from bloggers and the press.

According to the silver shampoo bottle: "Bleach Silver Shampoo is for blondes that constantly strive for whiter, brighter hair colour." This sentence describes me perfectly. All I want is to get rid of that slight unnatural brassy tone to my hair and look a little bit blonder for the summer. The Bleach London Silver Shampoo also has wheat proteins and vitamin B5 to moisturise your hair - another trait that I look for when buying shampoos, something that will nourish my hair and help me regain vitality. I tried the shampoo for the first time last night and I have already seen a big difference. My hair looks healthier, shinier and I'm happy to report, it also looks blonder. The Bleach London Silver Shampoo is the perfect quick fix without instantly heading for the bleach bottle. Of course it doesn't do miracles - if you're looking to dramatically change your hair colour this won't work, but the shampoo lived up to it's description and helped eliminate those annoying brassy tones. The best thing about this product is that it is affordable. £6 will buy you a 250ml bottle and you only need a little bit at a time and you're advised to use it once every couple of washes. This was my first time using a Bleach London product and I'm really impressed, in fact I can't wait until after my wedding so I can begin experimenting with my hair.

Summer Jewellery Wish list

Since I bought my new dress on Saturday I can't stop looking at clothing and accessorises in the colour pink. My new dress is fun, pretty and feminine, all words that sum up my personality perfectly, but what is lacking is that little bit of glamour. My new dress needs some new accessorises to really sparkle it up and take it from a day to day dress to party mode. I love jewellery. I love jewellery so much that I have several draws of jewellery and I still can't stop buying it. In my opinion jewellery can be really symbolic and help define a persons personality. From those who like items simple, yet elegant to those who are loud and go for statement pieces. More so than other items you can wear, jewellery can often have sentimental value and mean a lot to the wearer. The item could have been bought for a special occasion, passed down through the family or represent a certain time in someones life.

The majority of the jewellery I own has been passed down through my family and I have yet to really develop my own jewellery style. I do buy little pieces every now and then, but there's never much thought in my purchases. I want to develop my own style and be recognised for having that jewellery style. One of my friends is known for wearing a lot of vintage style jewellery that are often bought in charity shops and have an eclectic look, whilst another one of my friends loves her diamonds. I'm a mix between the two. I love my sparkles and my diamonds, but I also love items that are simple or those that tell a story. Today I decided to mix sparkles, rose gold and pink to bring you my summer jewellery wish list.

The first item on my wish list is the beautiful Bosworth necklace from one of my favourite online jewellery stores Bijoux Bazaar (link). This necklace is elegant yet striking and the gold, clear stone s and pink detailing compliment each other so well.

Next on my wish list are these knot earrings and the Michael Kors bracelet. These products are from a website called chisholmhunter.co.uk that specialises in designer jewellery, diamonds and watches (link). I came across this site a few weeks back when searching for Michael Kors jewellery and fell in love with all the items. Those who regularly read my blog know that I'm a massive Michael Kors fan and I would love this bracelet to add to my ever growing MK collection.

Finally the ring is from a website called Gemporia that sells the most luxurious looking jewellery for a highly affordable price. This ring may look like it is worth thousands of pounds, but you can pick it up for a mere £33 from Gemporia (link). There are cocktail rings in a variety of shapes and colours available on the Gemporia website and every gem has been selected from qualified 'Gemmologoists' so that you only get the best cut.

Are you planning on buying any summer jewellery?

My Dress Saviour: Didi's Boutique

Finding the right dress for a special occasion can often be difficult and even though I'm a fashion blogger, I still have days where I can't find anything to wear. My wardrobe is cluttered and overflowing with dresses, but there are days that some of my existing outfits just don't suit the occasion. Yesterday was one of those days.

Yesterday I attended the Manchester Bloggers Meet which was held at the prestigious members only bar, The Milton Club. It was such a fantastic day with lots of activities the wonderful host Lucy designed to keep us entertained. When I woke up that morning, I did not have a clue what to wear and despite owning a large amount of dresses, I struggled to find the perfect outfit. I arrived at the Milton Club full of glamorous bloggers feeling frumpy in my little white cotton dress. The problem was that it was too hot to wear most of the dresses I currently own and the ones I wanted to wear were in the wash from the parties and nights out I had attended over the week.

Luckily for me, a brand called Didi's Boutique (link) was showcasing at the Manchester Bloggers Meet and generously gave us all 50% off the clothes they had on their stall. After browsing through the racks, I came across this gorgeous little pink polka dot and realised it was the dress I had been wanting to buy a few months ago, but never got the chance. Instead of being £45, I bought this dress and another for just over £35. The dress and I were meant to be. Like Cinderella going to the ball, I quickly ran to the toilets with my purchase and changed my outfit. When I walked into the room full of bloggers, I was greeted with compliments and everyone loved my new outfit.

I love the jagged petticoat beneath this dress and the retro vibe the dress gives with the white polka dots. The dress is so comfortable to wear and gives me the perfect hourglass shape - the hubby-to-be loves it. This outfit looks great styled with my favourite Michael Kors watch (link), my White Chocolate Kandee heels (link) and this floral headband from New Look (link).

Holy Grail Haircare

The inspiration for this post came to me as I was showering at the gym and grabbed my trusty pot of Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. I was thinking to myself 'I cannot live without this product' as I applied it to my dry damaged bleach blonde hair. My hair has always been important to me and when I qualified as a hairdresser in 2009, I vowed to keep my hair in as good condition as possible even if I gave up hairdressing. I love how using quality products can really make a difference to the appearance of hair and can often feel more nourishing than high street alternatives. Don't get me wrong, there are some cheap haircare products that can work miracles - such as Bastiste, but when it comes to hydrating my hair, there are only certain brands I feel that I can trust.

When I was 16 years old I enrolled on a hairdressing course at my local technical college and spent many long days doing work experience in local salons. This is where my love affair with TIGI began. I remember walking into one of my placements and smelling the sweet aroma of the Bed Head 'Blonde Stuff' for the first time. The salon was a concoction of hair spray and candy scented fragrances, it was every girls dream. In between clients I used to sneak to the back room and spend 10 minutes playing with all the products. Although I'm not a hairdresser anymore, I'm thankful for everything that hairdressing taught me and I still spend a ridiculous amount of money on hair care products. Usually I buy salon sizes on websites such as www.capitalhairandbeauty.co.uk so they last me longer. Salon quality products can be on the expensive side, but they are not diluted like most of the products you can buy on the high street. This means that you're getting more product for you're money and you need much less product per wash, as well your hair stays cleaner for longer and feels in a better condition.

There are so many products I could mention in my 'Holy Grail Haircare', but instead I have gone with the three products I use on a regular basis. Firstly is the Bed Head 'Oh Bee Hive' dry shampoo (link). I was introduced to this product a few weeks ago when I was getting my hair done at Parklife and I fell in love with it. I'm a massive dry shampoo fan and I carry my Bastiste around with me everyday, the only thing is that I find my usual dry shampoo doesn't give me enough volume. I'm a girl that loves big curly hair. Not only does 'Oh Bee Hive' have a fun quirky name, it's a fabulous product that gives everything it says on the tin. It smoothes my fine hairs, adds volume and makes my hair look salon clean, it's perfection in a bottle.

My second 'holy grail' product is the Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque (link). Hand on heart, I really could not live without this product. My hair has been incredibly dry since bleaching it and this deep repair masque helps condition my hair, adds shine and also improve my hairs strength. I have been using this product for nearly 2 years now and I can't imagine not having it in my bathroom cabinet.

My final holy grail is the TIGI Urban Anecdotes Recovery shampoo & conditioner duo (link). These products are like 'Yin and Yang', they compliment each other so well and together they add volume, shine and nourishment to my hair. They also smell incredible. Since using these products my hair looks healthier, feels better and I'm getting a lot more compliments.

London Retro Sunglasses

Sunglasses are one of my favourite accessorises, but living in UK doesn't always give me the opportunity to wear them. The gorgeous sunshine and heat we have received over the last few days has been the perfect time to style my favourite sun dresses and finally get use of my sunglasses collection. I have several pairs of sunglasses in varying styles from white rimmed 60s style tinted specs to my round celebrity style Gucci's. Although I love my designer sunglasses and I wear them most of the time, I have been longing for a pair of prescription sunglasses that I wear everyday - not just for special occasions.

Over the last few years, my eyesight has got progressively worse and although my optician tells me regularly to wear my reading glasses, I often don't. A few months ago I was sent a pair of London Retro reading glasses to wear and months after the review, I still believe them to be the best reading glasses I own. The prescription is spot on and the frame really suits my face shape. I have gone from never wearing reading glasses to wearing glasses a regular basis, but I still admit that it probably isn't enough if you knew how bad my eyesight really is.

With my last review in mind, I decided to re-visit Glasses Direct (link*) and search for a pair of prescription sunglasses and I came across these, the 'Piccadilly' London Retro sunglasses. The sunglasses have a timeless design and the tortoiseshell rim adds subtle glamour to the glasses.Since the tint is brown rather than black, the sunglasses give the illusion of a warmer skin tone when worn. At £95 they are a little bit pricey, but worth the money for those who are looking for a good pair of quality sunglasses with an affordable prescription.

Graduation Day - Class of 2014

Today was the perfect ending to my final year of university and I can now shout it from the rooftops that I have graduated at the University of Huddersfield with a first class honours degree in Journalism. My journey through university has not been straight forward and there was many hurdles along the way, but I came and I conquered. I tried to continuous challenge and better myself through the last three years and the perseverance finally paid off.

I  have never thought of myself as 'academic' and I have always been one of those that has struggled with essay writing and assignments, but the University of Huddersfield lecturers and staff helped me achieve my potential and help pave the career path I always wanted. I have been so lucky to have made incredible friends and have attended such an amazing university with highly supportive tutors and incredible credentials. I cherish my memories at the University of Huddersfield and I will never forget the tutors that helped me achieve my potential.

Last but not least, I will remember all the friends I have made where each and every one of them has had such an impact on my life. I have been lucky to have the most wonderful and talented course friends, all of which I can see going far in the future. My best friend Abi (also known as the 'wifey') is standing with me in the above image and if it wasn't for university, I would not have had the pleasure of meeting her. Abi and I are such good friends and I cannot imagine my life without her. She graduated today with a degree in Drama and I know she's destined to be the next star.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, as this blog post shows I have had a lot of exciting things going on recently. I will be back posting normally this week. I have so many new products to show you and more importantly, it will be the five week countdown to the next important event in my life, the wedding. Watch this space.

Graduation Inspiration

Pearl Necklace, Mac Ruby Woo, New Look Heels, Dress
Graduation is supposed to be one of the most important days of your life and mine is four days away and I still haven't organised my outfit. Usually I plan my outfits for special days weeks in advance, but with a new job and a wedding to plan everything has been put on hold. When I mention my graduation, the first thing anyone asks is: 'what are you going to wear?' Sometimes it feels like my entire degree classification will be defined by a single outfit that I wear on graduation day rather than the amount of work I have done in the past three years. As much as I want to look my best and feel sophisticated whilst holding my degree, as long as I get that piece of paper and potentially shake Patrick Stewart's hand (yep, he's handing out our degrees) I could be wearing jeans and t-shirt for as long as I care...well, something a little more classy than that, but you get the point.

During the last few days I have been spending the majority of my lunch breaks hibernating at my desk and trawling the internet for graduation inspiration and finding nothing. At graduation it is important to find an outfit that truly reflects you as a person and as a fully grown adult transitioning into what is nicknamed 'the real world'. But how can you define yourself by a single item of clothing? I keep coming to a cross road where one way points to a skater dress and the other points to a bandeau, another way points to colour and another part of my mind is telling me to go black.

In the end I decided to do a little collage of my perfect graduation outfit - think Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany's and you're almost there. I want something that says classy and sophisticated, but doesn't think too much of herself. I want something plain that will go with my robes, but I don't want to look dull and boring. During my virtual shopping trip I chose this black bandeau dress, simple yet elegant teamed up with a beautiful pearl necklace to add a little bit of glamour to the outfit. Although my tutor keeps warning me not to wear 'silly shoes' I will probably be wearing heels as I feel the most confident wearing them and to finish off the outfit I will be wearing my trusted MAC Ruby Woo lipstick.

So that's my plan, all I have to do is go shopping this weekend...although that is easier said than done. The most important part of graduation is not about the dress (even though it does make you feel special) it's about having fun on the last day you'll see your course mates, enjoying a catch up with your tutors and receiving the most important document you'll ever receive in your life...besides a marriage license. As long as I have my friends and family around me, it will be a perfect day.

Summertime Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses and I never seem to get along. They are always far too long for my tiny 5ft 2 body or make me look wide at the hips, it's almost impossible to find the correct fit. I gave up all hope on ever finding a maxi dress until last year I stumbled across one I loved from Next. The maxi was from their petite section and fitted me like a dream. My body looked all in proportion and for once I felt glamorous. Until a few weeks ago, I only had one maxi dress in my wardrobe that I truly loved and wore all summer. Then I came across this beautiful lace dress from Darccy (link*) and decided to take a gamble and see if it would suit me.

According to the Darccy website:" Darccy welcomes you to the wonderful world of unique vintage inspired clothing, accessorises, handbags and shoes. Where fresh floral patterns and flirty designs flourish and fun frocks and fabulously flattering lace dresses spring into style." As you may know from previous posts, I absolutely adore vintage styles. In fact I'm having a 1950s inspired wedding in just under 7 weeks time. My passion for vintage inspired clothing derived from hours of listening to 50s/60s music with my parents as a young girl and raiding through my grandmas clothing and jewellery boxes. As I grew older, I started to enjoy researching the 'golden decades' and looking for style inspiration. My favourite films are also 'All Across the Universe' and 'Pleasantville' - two films you must watch if you haven't seen them before.

When I ordered this Darccy dress, I was anxious about the sizing and wondered whether yet again my small height would hinder my dream summer style. Luckily the dress fits perfectly and looks even better than I imagined. I love the lace detailing along the bust and the vertical stripes on the skirt which make my legs look longer. The vintage collar is a beautiful touch and finishes off this dress perfectly. If I had one niggle, it would be that it is slightly too big due to the dress being elasticated and it makes me look a little bit wide on the hips again due to the amount of fabric. However, the beauty of this dress draws the attention away from my little concern and over all, it is a winning summer style piece.

Sunday Samples: Arbonne Trial

A few months ago I started hearing about what I thought was a new cosmetic and body care brand on Twitter called 'Arbonne' (link*). Beauty bloggers were raving about their skincare and even my friends had started mentioning their name. As a blogger, I'm always interested in hearing about new brands and I became intrigued by the concept of Arbonne. It wasn't until recently however, that I discovered that Arbonne aren't a new brand, they have been around since the 1980s and it's only recently that bloggers are discovering them. I wanted to see what all the hype was about and after a talk with an Arbonne consultant, I was able to get my hands on a few little samples.

For those who have never heard of Arbonne, Arbonne was established during 1975 in Switzerland by a man named Peter Morck and a group of leading bio-chemists and herbalists. Arbonne use botanically based ingredients to form natural, soothing and energising skin care and the most exquisite makeup palettes and beauty products. Arbonne works similar to Avon, where you can purchase the products through a local consultant or even become one yourself. The brand started their beauty consultancy work in the 1980s and have been rapidly growing ever since.

I was sent a variety of Arbonne Anti-Ageing skincare samples to try and although I don't really need anti-ageing products at the moment, I'm a firm believer of prevention before cure and if I can start getting into an anti-ageing skincare routine whilst I'm young, I would hope that it will help keep my skin youthful for years to come. Here's a little run down of my Arbonne trial findings:

Regenerating Toner
The 'Regenerating Toner' is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E and the product description says that it will 'regenerate skin tone and firmness to deliver younger looking skin." This is not the best toner I have ever used (I will stick firmly with Clarins for that one), but it is pretty good. I like the way it settles softly on my skin and applies really well. My face does feel a little bit firmer and I feel fresh after use.

Extra Moisture Restore Cream
The restore cream was not what I expected when I first applied it. When you think of an 'extra moisturising' product you immediately jump to the conclusion that it will be thick, creamy and heavily applied, but this product is similar to a light serum in texture, that once applied makes your face feel silky smooth.  This has to be one of my favourite Arbonne products.

Corrective Eye Cream
The corrective eye cream promises to reduce the appearance of puffiness around the eyes and dark circles and I think it lives up to the promise pretty well. I have pretty bad dark circles due to years of being anaemic and I have tried an endless amount of beauty products to try reduce them. Unfortunately the eye cream does not banish my dark circles altogether, but it does help reduce them and my eyes feel a lot more alert from using this product.

Night Repair Creme
Over the last few years I haven't really cared much about my night time skin care regime, but after a bad few months of drying skin I started using moisturiser on an evening. These days I can't go to bed without layering on the night serums, moisturisers and eye products, the soothing products on my skin help me get to sleep. I love how soft this night repair creme leaves my face and the product itself isn't too heavy that you feel like you are wearing a lot of product before bed. The night creme is only lightly scented so it feels like you're wearing nothing on your face.

Intensive Renewal Serum
The Renewal Serum smells beautiful and applies really well, but unfortunately irritates my overly annoying sensitive skin. Looking at the other products, I'm sure this is on par and probably is a great product, but for now I've stopped using it.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of Arbonne products and how lovely they make my skin feel. I'm usually skeptical about certain skin creams promising so many things and not living up to the product description, but so far these Arbonne products have done exactly what they have said on the description. As I'm getting older i'm becoming more aware of my skin care routine and I would like to consciously make an effort to look after my skin. A long with my healthy eating and these exciting Arbonne products, I think my skin should definitely be looked after.

The Husband-to-be

If you told me four years ago that would be getting married at the age of 23 and I'd be in a fully committed relationship with my soul mate, I would have laughed. Marriage had never really been on my agenda - it was something that I wanted to happen in the future, but I didn't have a set time or goal for when it should be. Part of me thought i'd end up being a spinster like Bridget Jones Diary - alone with my blog and some type of furry animal by my side. But life is full of surprises and unknown to me, three years ago the man of my dreams would walk into my life and change my outlook on everything.

In seven weeks time I will be walking down the alter in a beautiful white lace dress and marrying the man I love. Three years ago he walked into my life and took what was a vulnerable, naive young girl and changed me into a woman. I claimed to be 'in love' before with my other partners and thought I knew what I wanted for my life, but James taught me how real love feels and with his support, I feel like the world is at my finger tips. People ask me 'how do you know he's the one' when we get onto the topic of marriage and I don't know, it's just one of those instinctive feelings. I cannot imagine a day not waking up besides him and not being able to talk to him, not being able to feel close to him. We are a completely open couple and share everything together. He's like my best friend and a partner. I always say being with James is like being permanently with my best friend and being able to have all the benefits. I'm lucky, I struck gold with this one.

When House of Fraser (link*) approached me for a mens clothing review, I accepted the opportunity because I thought it was time I treated my man. I admit  I do get a fair few items out of blogging and my wonderful partner is usually the man behind the camera taking all the photographs and being my occasional proof reader. James is incredibly supportive of my blog. I work 9-5 each day and come home at around 7pm and blog until about 9pm. A lot of the time my blog requires a lot of work, but James understands that. He waits patiently for me to join him once I've done all my editing, taking photos and all the write-ups. Sometimes it is like there are three people in our relationship, James and I and the blog. I choose this pale blue t-shirt because it has a retro vibe, James really suits the colour blue and because nautical wear is always a 'must-have' for men and women during the summer. I like how this t-shirt looks casual, but can also be dressed up rather easily.

Have you found mr/mrs 'right' yet?

Lady in Blue

Blue is one of my favourite colours and possibly the one colour that really suits my skin tone, but it wasn't until last year that I really started wearing it. When I was younger, my wardrobe mainly consisted of really dark clothes. In fact I was a 'goth' for several years so the majority of my wardrobe was made up of the colour black. It didn't help that I was also chubby. My weight was one of the main reasons why I did not want to wear colour. My thoughts at the time was that colours remained with the slim people that could pull them off and black was the most slimming colour a slightly larger girl could carry off. As I grew more confident with my appearance, I realised that life was too short to not embrace colour and wearing the right colours can give you a radiant glow.

I'm naturally pale with can come with many problems when finding the right clothing and I have recently realised (better later than never) that colour adds warmth to my skin, particularly the colour blue.

I bought this playsuit from my local boutique Pink Cadillac (link) and fell in love with it at first sight. The playsuit fits like a dream, has a really cool caged back and neck piece and gives me a slight mediterranean look, rather than pale, dull and boring. This playsuit looks great teamed up my curled ombre hair and some chunky jewellery, I think this is my new favourite outfit.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24HR

Finding the perfect foundation can be a little bit of a nightmare as everyone has different skin tones and skin types. When I'm foundation shopping, I always find that I'm between two of the lightest colours and that one makes me look like an oompa loompa and the other makes me look like a ghost. I can never win. Until now, my trusty foundation for the last few months has been Illamasqua Skin Base and in terms of coverage I would say it is one of the best foundations out there. However I find that the Illamasqua Skin Base can look a bit dull on my skin. It matches my skin colour perfectly, but it doesn't give me the radiant glow I desire.

Last Saturday my Illamasqua Skin Base finally came to the end of it's bottle and I needed to find a new replacement. I searched through each House of Fraser beauty counter and found myself lost and confused. I've tried Clinique and it just didn't work for me, I've tried Clarins and found it to be too drying - I didn't know where to turn.

In the end I decided to try Lancome. I haven't tried Lancome foundations before, but I've heard so many great things about them. I also recently heard that they had brought out a new foundation and since the lady asked me if I wanted to try anything, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to experiment. An hour later, I left the store with two little samples of their moisturisers and the foundation I have been eager to try.

The Lancome Teint Idole Ultra is Lancome's first 24hour foundation that according to the website:"Gives you an even, flawless looking complexion. No need for touch ups." The foundation blends effortlessly on the skin and indeed creates a flawless looking complexion. The foundation offers buildable coverage and can be worn lighter during the day and heavier for special occasions.

What I love the most about this product is that it gives me a radiant glow. The foundation has a slight yellowish tone which to be honest is probably a little bit off colour for my skin tone, but it adds warmth and a dewy finish. The colour looks impeccable and for the first time in a way, I feel like my skin has a healthy, youthful look. I don't believe products that claim to last 24Hours and unfortunately this does not last the whole night through, but it is really easy to touch up and comes in a glamorous bottle - for that reason, I will forgive the product.

Overall, I'm really happy that I bought the Lancome Teint Idole. Yet again, it isn't my Holy Grail foundation, but it's getting one step closer. My skin colour looks perfectly matched for once, I look healthy and my skin looks natural what more can I really ask for? Lancome seriously have impressed me.

Le Tour de France vient à Huddersfield

Bonjour! It's not very often that something as spectacular as the Tour De France comes to Huddersfield. Usually my town is very sleepy and lacks any excitement. This week it was completely opposite - the town centre was thriving, there was live music, food and dance and everyone was in high spirits. Last night we drank frozen daiquiris in the town square watching a sing a long 'Mama Mia' that had the crowds dancing from their seats and today was spent queuing for one of the worlds most popular sports to descend upon our streets. It was a thrilling weekend to say the least.

We spent almost two and a half hours waiting along the road side for the famous Tour De France cyclists to drive by. During our waiting time, we were treated to the Tour De France Caravans that are pretty much promotional vehicles for UK and French brands. Joining the Tour De France fun were Haribos, McCains, Fruit Shoots and in true Yorkshire style, we had our very own Yorkshire Tea van throwing samples to the crowd. It was a long wait and me and my partner took to selfies to occupy our time - our selfie even ended up on local newspapers website, The Huddersfield Examiner.

Two and a half hours later, we were finally given the opportunity to see the worlds greatest cycle race on our doorsteps. It was an overwhelming experience and gave many people the feeling of being proud to be from Yorkshire. The Tour De France this weekend firmly put Yorkshire and even my hometown Huddersfield on the world wide map. I never thought I would be that intrigued by cycling, but this weekend has been the most fun I have had in a long time. The day that the Tour de France came to West Yorkshire will be a day I will remember for the rest of my life.

Did you watch the Tour de France this weekend?

Friday Night Wish List

It's Friday night and I'm sat alone on the sofa in my leopard print onesie sipping amaretto and cranberry. The man has left me for a Friday 'lads night out' and I'm feeling lonely. My only comforts at the moment is the fluffy white rabbit that is nibbling everything in sight, the fact that Bridget Jone's Diary is on the television and the fact that I can cheer myself up by a bit of online shopping....he shouldn't have left me alone with my credit card (jokes...or maybe i'm serious).

When I get bored and have nothing to do, I resort to being one of those people that does virtual online shopping. The ones that shove everything they see into an online shopping basket and then sulks when they can't afford everything. Then comes the task of withdrawing each item one by one until you're left with a less fulfilling one item in the basket, that the majority of the time you never really wanted in the first place. Finally you realise, to have got to that point you must have had far too much time on your hands and looking at the clock, you realise that you have wasted far too many hours doing pointless little things. To make my shopping wish lists seem a little less pointless, I thought I would create my 'Friday Night Wish list' and see what your thoughts are on the items that I am trying to resist buying.

The first item on my Friday Night Wish List are these beautiful Kandee Cherry Lip shoes (link). They look quirky, yet sophisticated and I love the see through edge. In fact, I'm highly tempted to buy a pair of these for my wedding day. My dress has a long train and I'm looking for a pair of quirky shoes I can show off in the wedding photographs. Kandee have always been one of my favourite shoe brands - let's face, what girl does not like sweeties and shoes? It's a match made in heaven.

Second item on my wish list is this gorgeous Marc by Marc Jacobs watch from Harrods (link). I was lured onto the Harrods site when I noticed that they are having a 10% off weekend and couldn't wait to see what bargains they had. I'm usually a big Michael Kors fan when it comes to watches, but recently I've been looking for something a little less subtle to wear. I'd like to buy another watch so I have more day to day options and this Marc Jacobs watch has a timeless look that can fit easily with most of the items in my wardrobe. It's something that I might have to save until next payday, but hopefully this watch will soon be mine.

Third item is the Touche Eclat YSL foundation (link). I've heard so many amazing things about this foundation and I've always wanted to try it for myself. Apparently it is pretty good for coverage and gives a dewy, youthful glow - all the things I look for in a foundation. I know that Illamasqua Skin Base is one of my all time favourites, but lately I'm feeling experimental. I will never stop searching for the 'Holy Grail' foundation.

My final wish list item is a new MAC lipstick. It has been awhile since I have shopped at MAC because I don't have one in my hometown and I usually like to try before I buy. Now that I work in the city, I have plenty of time to go exploring and I love the colours in the new Sheer Supreme Moody Blooms collection.

Have you been tempted to buy anything lately?

A Little bit of Luxury

We all have one of those days where we feel like we deserve a 'treat'. Admittedly, that day comes far too often for me. Every single day I will pick something up and say to my partner: "Oh look honey, I treated myself." It has become somewhat of a joke between us both now, he looks at me with those disapproving eyes and then suddenly burst out laughing, he knows I have very little control when it comes to shopping.

Although I do shop a lot, I'm very careful with my money. I have never been in debt and have always repaid my credit cards. I admit that I have probably had life a little bit easy as I have always managed to find odd little jobs to fund my lifestyle and I have never been out of pocket. I'm self reliant and do not borrow money from my parents. When I treat myself to something as a big as this Michael Kors bag, I know that I have earned it through hard work and I never underestimate its personal value.

Early this week I received my first official work pay cheque and headed straight to Harvey Nichols. It has been awhile since I have had such a considerable amount in my bank account that hasn't belong to the student loans company. I have been lusting over this tricolour Michael Kors handbag for the last few months and knew that this handbag and I were destined to be together. At £315 this little bag doesn't come cheap, but words cannot describe the immaculate handbag lining, the soft leather finishings and that sturdy, quality feel. It may be a fair amount of money, but you can tell this handbag is made to last.

My second little weekly 'treat' was this green clover Pandora charm. Two Christmases ago my partner bought me the most beautiful Pandora bracelet with many different charms all representing my personality - this was one of them. Unfortunately a year later it was stolen whilst I was visiting London. I bought a new bracelet last year and have spent the last few months trying to rebuild it. I repurchased this little clover last week as I've started having a lot of good luck recently and the green clover reminds me of my partner who is Irish.

Finally, I received this luxurious scarf in the post the other day from Diffusion (link*). I have always loved scarves and they remind me of my auntie who always used to wear them. The horse pattern on this scarf is like a piece of artwork - every section of it tells a story. I love to wear this scarf with a vintage style dress or sometimes I wrap it around the stop of my handbag to add a little bit more style. The scarf is highly versatile and really grabs attention, it's probably one of the most beautiful scarves I have ever seen.
