Have a Lush Christmas

During the winter time, there's nothing I love more than a candlelit bath and soaking amongst a wonderfully scented Lush bath bomb. The winter period is the time of year where I become almost addicted to Lush as a nice hot bath does wonders for seasonal aching joints and Lush are great for adding fun to bath time as well as adding moisturise in their bath bombs to aid drying skin. Every year Lush brings out a fabulous section of bath bombs and this year is no exception. There's everything from Snowmen to Santas and a wide variety of other Lush Christmas inspired products.

Recently I was sent the Lush Snowman bath bomb to review and I thoroughly enjoyed my Lush Snowman experience. The Snowman has a Christmas red scarf and a nose made out of the Carrot bubble bar from a collection last Easter. To help moisturise your skin at the time you need it the most, the Snowman also contains cocoa butter, which gives a creamy soft feeling to the bath water.

I love watching bath bombs fizzle as I get undressed and the Snowman not only smelled beautiful, it gave an array of red, blue and yellow colouring to my bath water that looked as though I was bathing in the remains of an oil painting. Having tried many Lush bath bombs in the past, I have to say that the Snowman is one of my favourites alongside the much loved 'Big Blue'. The Snowman can be purchased from the Lush site for £2.50.

Vogue's Fashion Night Out Manchester

Last night saw the first ever Vogue Fashion Night out in the north and the beautiful city of Manchester was the host of the evening. There was lots of exciting fashion events going on around the town with major High Street retailers participating as well as local boutiques. I was there representing the Manchester Official Bloggers team and alongside my partner in crime for the evening, Cara and together we sipped cocktails, window shopped and had a laugh getting lost on the way to events.

My first stop was the official press briefing by the Manchester Arndale team. During the meeting, they expressed how happy they were to see to the Vogue team outside of the city and what a huge impact it will make having the Vogue Editors in Manchester for the evening. During the briefing, we were treated to Yo Sushi and given a few press treats to get us in the mood for the evening. Perfect start to what turned out to be a fun, exciting night.

Our next stop was at Debenhams where we had the privilege of having a meeting with their personal styling team. The girls were bubbly, charming and you could tell that they loved every aspect of their job. It was interesting hearing about all the personal styling services Debenhams provide and this was something I had very little knowledge on before last night. Debenhams offers a free personal styling sessions and it's available to anyone that's seeking advice on what to wear for a special occasion or someone who's not as confident in wearing this seasons new trends. The team help you build your capsule wardrobe and shows you that you can suit any colour of the rainbow, it's about having the confidence to wear it. We were then taken into the personal styling rooms shown in the picture above and treated to a little gift bag of Dior samples for our time.

Around the city there was a variety of events and shopping experiences for the general public. Nearly every store had free champagne or cocktails and the majority of retailers offered goodie bags and samples to lure in the crowds. Manchester was rather busy and the people seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere. The Boohoo bus outside the Arndale seemed to be grabbing a lot of attention with its bright pink appearance.

At House of Fraser there was an opportunity to try new makeup trends, sample cocktails and browse the store looking for discounts. These cocktails from a Brazilian restaurant in Manchester tasted so lovely, I really wish I had more.

There were lots of makeup demonstrations in House of Fraser from the girls at Doir to the top makeup artist at the Bobbi Brown concession.

Many stores in the Arndale had competitions that ran through the evening. From the box opening at Guess to the River Island 'Pucker Up Wall'.

My partner in crime during the evening was the beautiful Clara from CountessDuBlush. It was lovely to spend the evening with a fellow blogger and we also took advantage of all the free champagne going around.

As well as there being lots of events in store, many cosmetic companies like the 'Body Shop' and 'Benefit' made 'pop up' stores where you could go and get your makeup done or sample one of the latest beauty treatments.

I spent quite some time at the Benefit counter talking to the wonderful makeup artist and discussing beauty products. I had a mini makeover and the next day I managed to pop into my local Benefit branch and buy a few of the products that she demonstrated the night before.

The last place I visited before catching the train home was the Lush pop up event where you could get free massages and beauty treatments. The stall was open to the general public and seemed popular throughout the night and for me, it was a fantastic learning experience. Before my visit, I had never heard of Lush spas before and when the lovely lush lady was telling me about the treatments I couldn't help, but want to have something done. During the time at the lush concession, I was given a sample of the Lush 'Sysaenethisa' treatment where I had my arms massaged and given a sound treatment. It was a really pleasant experience and I love how Lush incorporates everything quintessentially British into their treatments, with a touch of an 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired theme.

The lotion she used during my massage was the 'Helping Hands' hand cream. I quite liked this product as it blended easily into my skin and left my hands and arm feeling remarkably softer. The massage was lovely and really relaxed me after a long hard day.

The second component to the treatment was an 'eat me' section where I was given nutrient filled chocolate. I admit, I found the chocolate a little bit too rich and only really ate it out of kindness, but the cup and saucer was a really nice finishing touch.

Finally I was given a rose water non alcoholic cocktail. It was really sweet and fragrant and nothing like I've ever had before. In a weird way this cocktail smells very similar to  the Lush Snow Fairy and reminds me of the winter weather. I loved drinking this, but it's probably too sweet for regular consumption.

When I arrived home, I browsed all the goodie bags I had been given throughout the night and was shocked by all the freebies. They were all easy to get and the majority of the goodies I received were available to the general public.

In my French Connection goodie bag I was given some shower gel, St Tropez Wash Off Tan and a sketchbook to write down all my fashion ideas.

At the press conference I was kindly given a goodie bag full of high end beauty treats from No7 to Benefit and a full sized bottle of Gucci Guilty Black. I can't wait to blog about all these products.

Whilst visiting the Debenhams styling team I was given a selection of Dior perfume samples.

After having my makeover down by the Benefit team, I was kindly given a sample of Cha Cha tint to take away with me. I already have a few Benefit samples I regularly use and still haven't run out of.

After having my Lush makeover I was given these samples to try out at home. I love the Lush soap, it smells amazing.

Finally, I had a series of photos taken at River Island and they put them in a mini flip book to take home as a souvenir of Vogue Night Out. Despite my hair looking windswept and frizzy, I quite like all the photos and it was a perfect end to the evening.

Ambition

As many of you will have already realised, I'm slightly obsessed with red lips and my red-lipstick-buying habit is showing no signs of disappearing. My latest little arrival was Lush's new lip paint, Ambition. Firstly, I have to say that the name of this product pretty much sums me up. I'm always ambitious - if not a little bit too ambitious. I have my head in the sky most of the day and will stop at nothing to secure a job in fashion PR. "You may say I'm dreamer, but I'm not the only one"...I couldn't help, but add the latter end of that sentence when I wrote it. If you haven't heard John Lennon Imagine, I suggest you Google it, although I'm pretty sure 99% of the population has done. A lot of my friends call me a dreamer, but to me, it's ambition. I know what I want and I'm always trying to figure out my way to get there. I want to prove that my dreams are a reality.

Red lipstick always ignites that confidence within me and when I'm doing a presentation or need a confidence boost, red lip paint is my best friend and that's the simple reason why I can't get enough of it. If you haven't tried Lush's new set of liquid lipsticks, you have definitely been missing out. They are easy to apply, totally vegan and a little goes a very long way. Ambition is such a powerful colour and highly pigmented, the picture does not do it justice.

The best aspect of the Lush Ambition is the fact that one little pot can give you a variety of colours. Simply apply more if you're wanting an instantly bright colour or apply very little if you're wanting something a little more subtle. If you want a softened colour, you can apply the Kiss Lip Gloss. The kiss lipgloss is probably one of my favourite new products - it never leaves my handbag. The product tastes like sweeties and adds a beautiful pink glow to your pout. It's perfect for those days where you're wanting to avoid heavy lip coverage and you're looking for something quite natural. The product also includes fair trade Shea Butter to keep your lips moisturised.

My only wish is that I had a Lush store closer to home, as it takes over an hour for me to get to the nearest one. Although, it could easily be a blessing in disguise, as I would probably spend half of my uni breaks shopping in there and dreaming of all things sweet scented.

For all of you unlucky ones like myself, there's always the Lush online store,  which never closes and sells all the products you could wish for. Why not pop a little bit of Ambition into your shopping cart? I know I will be doing when it runs out.

Lush Haul

There's nothing like a Lush haul to scrub all those negative winter blues out of the way. Eco-friendly and not tested animals, you really can't go wrong. These fabulous products recently made their way to my house and I've been so excited about reviewing them.

Snow Fairy
This Limited edition shower gel is everything a girly-girl like me needs during their bath time. The product is bright pink in colour, with a hint of sparkle and it smells like fruity bubblegum. My skin feels softer and the feel lasts quite a long time - this would make a perfect treat for the Autumn.

Twilight Shower Gel

If you're hooked on sparkly vampires, this is probably catered to your personality. You can unleash your dark side with this blende of lavender and malt. Made to be used during the 'Twilight hours', this product apparently can help you drift off to sleep - although I haven't tried it,  the scent feels incredibly soothing and relaxing, so I can potentially see this happening in the future.

Ponche
Out of all the shower gels I've received, this scent is my least favourite. As the description states, the product does in fact gives off the impression of being bright, boozy, fruity and uplifting, however it feels a little bit too tangy for my liking and the Tequila element reminds me of too many bad nights out. Like all the other products, however the product does feel soft and weightless on your skin and if the scent sounds like something you would like, you could always try it yourself.

Popcorn Lip Scrub

I collected my Lush parcel on the way to work and the girls got really excited about what I had been sent, so during our break we opened it all and did lots of playing around.Having seen reactions from all the girls, I've noticed we've had quite a few mixed responses with this product. I really like it, but my friend thinks that it tastes too salty...although when I told her to take a sprinkle of the product, she took a teaspoon sized amount and covered her lips in it - no wonder it tasted on the salty side. If you sprinkle a very light dusting on your lips, I've noticed that my taste buds instantly deciphered the sweet scents, before melting into a buttery caramel taste and my friend got the opposite. We both agreed after our little dispute, that the product does work really well and later that day, we both had soft nourished lips.

Let The Good Times Roll

I haven't tried this product yet, but my Lush haul post seemed incomplete without mentioning it. Let The Good Times Roll is a maize and polenta based facial cleanser. Having tried a tiny bit on my hand, I realised that the product feels rather soft so I can't wait to see the results. I love the added bit of popcorn in the product too - I can easily imagine having a girls night in with a movie and using this cleanser.

What do you think of Lush? Have you tried any of these products?

Lush Emotional Brilliance

Lush have recently brought out their new Emotional Brilliance range and after being a fan of their soaps and bath bombs for quite awhile, I couldn't wait to try their cosmetics. The range includes liquid lipsticks, eyeliners and eyeshadows and is fast becoming a big hit amongst bloggers. The products I was sent to trial have given me mixed opinions - I'm in love with the lipsticks, but really can't stand the liquid eyeliner. As I always stress, you really have to try these products for yourself before taking my word for it, but hopefully this review will shed some light on the products.

Glamorous and Confident are two of Lush's new lipsticks and I rather like them.  Glamorous is my favourite colour as I have an obsession with pink and it reminds me of barbie, but confident is a shade I wouldn't usually pick and I seem to have grown fond of it.  The products are £14.50, which I think is a little steep, but I do think they have a great quality to them.

Here's a picture of the 'Glamorous Liquid Lipstick'. I like how effortlessly the product glides on and how the little brush easily givens your lips the definition needed. The colour is highly pigmented, which is great for those feeling adventurous and wanting to step out of their natural shade comfort zone. The lipsticks can also be used as liquid blushers and other makeup, making this incredibly versatile and value for money.

And here's the 'Confident Lipstick'....

I think unfortunately it's a little too dark for my complex, but I love the gothic look - which will be great over the winter.

And finally, this is the eyeliner in the shade of 'Dynamic'. Although the colour may suit other people, it didn't really suit me and I'm not too fond of the brush. It feels like too flimsy and I'm struggling to get an even line. I'm definitely going to try this again to see if I could get used to playing around with it, but so far,  unfortunately it's not for me.
