Festival Fashion - What will you be wearing?

It's 9 days until my favourite weekend of the year - Download Festival and words can't describe how excited I am. This week I will probably be starting my packing and yet again, I will begin the tremendous battle between my wardrobe and suitcase when deciding what to wear.

Here are a few of my current ideas:

Unleashing the Inner Rock Chick

Festivals are probably one of the best times to experiment with your style. In this photo, I'm channeling my inner rock chick. Here I am wearing my River Island leather jacket, Karen Millen silk top, a studded belt and some wet look leggings.

Grunge
Festivals are a great time to exhibit all those band t shirts that have been residing in your the bottom of your cupboard - well, that's what happens to mine. I tend to go band shirt crazy when I go to festivals and buy lots of them, but most of the time they tend to be wardrobe souvenirs. In this picture I'm wearing my Aerosmith t-shirt from when I saw them last year, my River Island shorts and my studded belt again.

Preppy 70s
And finally, with all them retro bands playing, may be you want to transport yourself to the 70s bohemian trend. You can't go wrong with a pair of staple denim shorts and this lovely top from River Island.

Just remember to follow these key points:

Keep it light weight - your going to be in and out of busy crowds and it's bound to get warm.

Take a jumper and waterproofs - It may get cold on a night and there is a slight chance you could get soaked in a random downpour.

Cheap is Chic - Don't go to a festival wearing incredibly expensive clothes - your likely to damage them and/or get them covered in mud. Opt for some cool inexpensive items.

And finally remember...

Whatever your style, wear it with confidence.

Festivals are about having fun, not worrying about how you look.

Sunday Summary

My straight hair.
This week has been full with the hustle and bustle of presentation preparation and deadlines, but I've made it and it's finally the holidays. I've made lots of little discoveries this week, about myself, my blog and new products. Here's a tiny little summary of my week.

1.) I've been embracing my natural hair this week. The straighteners have been temporarily banished and my hair is feeling lots better because of it.

I'm embracing my natural hair

2) Speaking of hair, this little product has become my newest obsession.

This is the Alterna  - Cavair Anti- Aging Rapid Repair Spray.

It smells absolutely gorgeous, protects your hair from the sun and gives your hair the boost it needs on a bad day. I have to say, it works incredibly well and I'm obsessed with using it.

My partners foot clearly wanted some attention..
4) I need to save my money

I also learnt this week, that I'm pretty bad at saving my money. Oh why do shops tease me with their amazing offers and then send me little notes in the form of emails, offering me free delivery! In the above picture, is one of my latest purchases from Boots. Six beautiful fragrances from the Boots Natural Collection for under £4 - I'm impressed.

All Over Body Spray Scents

Vanilla
Apple and Lime
Ice Musk
Wild Strawberry
Samphire and Sea Minerals
Mango and Papaya

They last quite a long time and smell divine. My favourite has to be the Wild Strawberry or the Mango and Papaya, because those are some of my favourite fruit. The pit fall of these products would be the fact that they can come across as a little bit too sweetly scented, but overall they are great.

This week has been a pretty good week and despite having several disasters with my alarm clock this morning, the weekend has ended well.

Hope your all having a brilliant time this weekend.

xoxo

By the way, I'll be doing a blog giveaway relatively soon so keep checking back!

Behind the make-up and dresses.

When I first started blogging, I had many questions that went through my mind. Was I pretty enough? After all, many beauty and fashion writers are the most glamorous people I know. This is why I called my blog "Forever Miss Vanity". This person was my alter ego. She was the person I became once I put the pretty dresses on and applied the makeup and she was the person I always wanted to be. I know I have mentioned my weight loss many times before, but even losing weight didn't fill my confidence - it actually made me more afraid. I felt vulnerable when people approached me and asked me how I lost weight? I was afraid of being judged.

It wasn't until lately that my confidence has risen dramatically and I find myself creeping into "Forever Miss Vanity's" life. This is because the more I blog, the more I realise who I am.The followers that I have accumulated over the last few months have given me reasons to feel confident and become the person that I am now. I owe a lot of this newfound happiness to all of you.

The beautiful Jessica from http://jesslovelyjubbly.blogspot.com/ tagged me in a recent post called "Inner Beauty" and I leaped onto the opportunity to write a blog post about this.

Step 1 :As the instructions required, here I am without my makeup.

Step 2: Answer the following questions

Do you feel different with your make-up on or off?

Makeup masks all your insecurities may it be banishing a blemish or feeling under confident. I love wearing makeup, because it makes me feel pretty and I love experimenting with styles and colours. It isn't until I visited my local Chanel counter that I realised what nice skin I have and that it is okay to go natural sometimes.

In your opinion, is inner or outer beauty more important?

Inner beauty is far more important in a person. You can spend hours making yourself look nice, but if your a horrible person deep down, it will show.  I pride myself with the fact that I'm honest and caring and even if I don't look my best, I always tell myself that I have a personality that people can relate to.

What is real beauty to you?

For someone to walk in the room and you can tell the positivity they are injecting. They will walk in confident, with a smile and their personality will sweep you up. The ability to do that, be it looking good or not, is what true, real beauty is about.

What makes you feel beautiful?

My boyfriend - he doesn't care what I look like when I go to bed at night or wake up in the morning. I'm always beautiful in his eyes and the feeling is mutual.
My friends - they inject confidence into my life daily and I'm always thankful of them being around.
My followers - each and every comment fills me with happiness.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to me, most people are beautiful. I've finally learnt that I am a beautiful person, because of the personality that I have and it doesn't matter as much if I do leave the house without make-up on. People should see past that, like I do with them.

Everyone is beautiful and if your not feeling particularly confident, just look in the mirror, list all the positive things about yourself and walk out of the house with a huge smile.

I tag all of my followers to show the world what true beauties they really are!

Skin Fit at Harvey Nichols - Leeds

Last night I attended the Skin Fit event with one of  my best friends, Hannah at Harvey Nichols in Leeds.
We were given complimentary drinks and was able to try and buy products and overall, it was a brilliant night. It was full of fun and entertainment and I managed to buy some lovely items.

Not only did I manage to buy some great cosmetics, I was also given a goodie bag as I left:

It has several items from Clarins to Lancome and I can't wait to try them and share my experiences with you, but for now I will focus on what I bought.

Having seen my previous posts, you'll be aware that I have somewhat of an unhealthily obsession with pink lipsticks and last night, I added another to the collection.

MAC - Chatterbox.

This lipstick was made for me. I'm not only crazy about the colour pink - I'm a chatterbox too!

The lipstick really suits my skin tone and I'm really impressed with its durability. I've worn it all day and I've only had to apply it twice.

I also bought the Lancome - Hypnose Drama mascara. I was in desperate need of some mascara and I heard such great reviews on this product.

These are my lashes before. They aren't very long and the look boringly natural.

These are my lashes after apply the mascara as well as the rest of my make-up. The product unfortunately can be a little bit clumpy, but I'm still rather impressed and this is a definite improvement from the other mascara I was using. So that's it, make-up done and I'm off out.

It's almost that time again...

Grab those band t-shirts, dust down them tents and grab a bottle of Jack - it's almost festival time.

Each June, I make my annual voyage to a UK festival known as Download Festival. The event has played host to thousands of great heavy metal and classic rock bands and gives me a chance to bring out my inner "rock chick".

Aerosmith at Download 2010
ACDC  Download 2010
Me in 2010 - looking slightly curvier.
I've been lucky enough to have seen the greatest bands such as, ACDC, Aerosmith and KISS, to name but a few and I'm so excited about this year.

With the run up to Download Festival and many others, I have decided to regularly post about the festival essentials from the basic beauty needs, to the best outfits to wear.

This week I'll be discussing dry shampoo:

Pictured above, are my favourite dry shampoo's.

The one on the far left is Batiste Diva - dry shampoo and the other is Scandalous hair - dry shampoo. Both of these can be purchased at most local drug stores, such as Superdrug or Boots.

Dry shanpoo's are a festival must have - your bound to get everything chucked at you and a weekend with no showers is hell. Every girl needs a little pick me up that is slightly better than using ice cold water. I've been there, done that and will probably have to do that again, but at least this is an affective method of hair washing.

Instructions

1) Shake well
2) Spray cm away from the head and apply evenly.
3) Brush out.

Simples.

Batiste Vs Scandalous

Smell: I love the smell of Scandalous products, I could sniff them all day. The Batiste isn't that bad either, but the Scandalous product smells sweet and feminine.

Shampoo: Batiste works slightly better at cleaning my hair than the Scandalous product. It's quite effective with minimal effort, whilst I feel that I need to apply more with Scandalous dry shampoo.

Finish: The Scandalous product makes my hair quite shiny and I really like it. The Batiste product seems to add a slight volume to my hair,so it really depends on what look I would like to achieve.

Overall: I love them both and would happily recommend both products.
