Spring Time Wishlist

Spring time is always my favourite fashion season. Out come the all the vibrant juicy oranges, plum purples and aztec prints, contrasted with subtle pastel colours, beiges and crisp whites. I always find spring to be the most classically feminine season. The clothes are modest - covered up enough to keep you warm through the ongoing blustery winds, but short enough to reveal a little bit of leg or midriff once the sun comes out. As a fan of vintage fashion, I love how spring time clothing is all about the subtle transition to summer and whilst we are seeing shorter skirts and cami tops on the horizon, the majority of clothing still leaves a lot to the imagination.

As I was browsing the rails in Topshop today, I had a sudden burst of inspiration for a wish list post, mainly brought on by this sunburst orange lace dress I had fallen head over heels for. This dress is the Premium Lace Pencil Dress new in to Topshop and features beautifully tailored short sleeves, a bodycon lace pencil skirt and a crop top overlay. At £78 this dress is a little bit pricey, but it will definitely become a staple item that you can take through season to season. The design is timeless and the colour will light up your wardrobe.

The next item on my wish list is this Pink Colour Block Structured Tote bag from River Island. I quite like my River Island handbags. They always seem to last me quite awhile, they are able to carry around my Macbook and they always have such a beautiful collection. This season River Island has many pastel colours and cream handbags, it is every girly girls dream.

Next is this wonderful Hugo Boss watch. For quite sometime now, I have been looking for a new everyday watch and I have struggled to find one that quite matches my style. I am forever in love with Michael Kors, but for a day to day watch, I find them to be a little bit too dressy. I want a watch that would look good with my hair tied back and a pair of jeans without making me look too overdressed. This Hugo Boss watch is simple, yet elegant and I love striking clock face.

Finally, to complete the outfit I have opted for a classic pair of Kurt Geiger court shoes. I don't think a day goes by without me sneakily browsing the KG website or me day dreaming of buying a new pair of shoes. Kurt Geiger create the most versatile shoes that fit around your life, it's impossible not to find a pair for the mood you are in. These are the Ellen court shoes - classic, beautifully shaped and perfect for this seasons soft colours. Coincidentally, these heels are also the same name as my late grandma - a wonderfully classy woman with impeccable taste.

Valentines Outfit: Casual yet Classy

Valentines Day is usually full of surprises and its often difficult to know what to wear. Unless you have a set reservation at a restaurant, your partner could be plotting anything and I am probably the worst for dressing for the wrong occasion on a good day.

This outfit was inspired by the white Henri Lloyd jumper I recently came across. As a child I spent my time split between two different locations - one being Huddersfield the small town in which I grew up in and the other being in the middle of the irish sea - literally. For as long as I have been on this planet and a long time before, my dad has always had a yacht. He loves sailing more than anything in this world and as a child we would spend nearly every weekend galavanting to Wales and spending time sailing around the coastline. In fact, my parents first took me sailing when I was only a few months old. Growing up spending so much time sailing, I was introduced to many of the local yacht clubs. Some of them would be tiny, not really extravagant, but then you would get one of two that easily made you feel out of place. You would see these women with perfectly tousled hair, radiant skin, wearing their nautical inspired jumpers and looking completely flawless despite spending days fighting off sea air and salt. You instantly knew they were of a different kind, I was from a small boat, but they were cruising around in mega yachts. In fact, they probably looked so immaculate because they had their own crew. Over the years I managed to meet a lot of these women and the more I saw their lavish lifestyles, the more I wanted to be like them.

Henri Lloyd are clothing line, known for being one of the original British sailing brands. Despite being quite far from the sea, the brand was created in Manchester and were the first people to use Velcro in clothing as well as manufacture Bri-Nylon one of the first waterproof brands. These days Henri Lloyd clothing is a well known brand amongst celebrities and readily available amongst high street stores. A sentence driven from the website sums the brand up perfectly by stating:" Today Henri Lloyd products contain a unique blend of heritage, modernity and technical excellence, whilst always staying true to the sea."

This Henri Lloyd jumper was chosen for my valentines outfit as it is casual, yet classy and will keep you warm whilst the weather is still rather cold. I've teamed this jumper up with a pair of Topshop denim jeans, a pair of Kurt Geiger Ariana booties, a Mulberry Small Suffolk handbag and I have finished the outfit off with one of my favourite red lipsticks, the YSL Rouge Rock. Volumised hair with loose curls would look great with this outfit or even a beehive style up do.

What would you wear as a casual look this Valentines Day?

Pretty in Pastels

Pastel colours

It is typical that when I've gone on a spending limit, a new trend pops up that makes me want to buy lots of new clothes. It always happens. It's like when you have no money, you want everything and when you're rich and it's payday there's nothing left in the shops. It happens to the best of us.

I'm currently dreaming of everything pastel in my wardrobe. The soft pinks, subtle turquoises and baby blues are swaying me towards the clothing rails and right now, my willpower is weak. The shops are full of soft fabrics, cashmere jumpers and pleather jackets in the most wonderful variety of colours.

The best thing about my blog is being able to write about these products and get everything off my chest. This is the reason behind my 'Pretty in Pastels' post today. The first item I would love to own is this baby pink blazer from New Look. I shop in New Look rather frequently, in all fairness I should probably get loyalty discount with the amount of time and money I've spent in there. They just seem to get everything right each month with affordable prices. It's great for a quick fashion fix when you have very little money and that's why most of my time is spent there.

My next wish list item are a pair of bleached denim leggings from Topshop. I love Topshop leggings as they are probably the comfiest ones I've ever owned and everytime I need a new pair, it's the first place I go. Unfortunately my last pair of leggings similar to them got caught up in one of my mums washing machine disasters and ended up with bright pink splodges over them.

When I walked into River Island the other day, this light turquoise jumper was the first to grab my attention. The necklace detailing is beautiful and the texture is really light and soft. This jumper is a little bit out of my price range right now, but I'll be keeping an eye on it for a later date.

Finally, it's very rare that I ever do a wishlist post without mentioning Kurt Geiger and here they are again with mention to their pastel pink court shoes. I have always been a Kurt Geiger girl and always will be. Their quality, customer services and timeless designs keep drawing me back and I can guarantee if anything is going to break my spending limit it would be a sale at KG.

What do you think of pastels?

Autumn Outfit Wishlist

London Fashion Week very quickly crept upon us and then suddenly has finished within a blink of the eye. This year we've seen lots of bold colours, fabulous patterns and an ample amount of leather. To celebrate or commiserate the finale of London Fashion week, I've decided to do one last wish list post. This wish list is a combination of high street and designer, much like London Fashion Week. In my personal opinion, I've always stated that I prefer to have a few designer accessories and a lot more high street gear, because it's easier to mix and match. You can take one Topshop jumpsuit similar to the one and above and add a few designer items to give the item a sense of luxury and glamour.

The other day I walked into Topshop and was blown away by the vibrant colour of this orange jumpsuit. The colour very much reminds me of those auburn leaves that fall off the trees at this time of year and looks very autumnal. I could see the jumpsuit being fun to wear, yet evoking a sense of sophistication. I really need to try this on next time I'm in store.

The second item on this list is a beautiful Ivory Cup Sleeve jumper by the designer Chalayan. I was browsing the Avenue 32 website and fell in love with it. It looks really cosy and versatile and I could imagine this going with so many outfits I own. This jumper would look great over the Topshop jumpsuit to give a slouchy yet glamorous, dressed down vibe.

Yet again on my wishlist is another pair of Kurt Geigers. I don't think they ever bring out a line of shoes that I don't want to buy. I love the look of these wedges. Finally, I'd bring the whole outfit together with the bag leather handbag from River Island. I've had many River Island handbags in the past and they've lasted me for a very long time, I can't wait to buy another.

What do you think of this outfit?

Back to Uni Wishlist

Sometimes it's rather shocking how fast time flies. One minute it's the beginning of summer and you're walking down the streets in bare legs and little dresses, then before you know it you're reluctantly wrapped up in your scarf and parka jacket embracing the winter weather. It's been almost 3 months since I started my university summer break and in less than 2 weeks I'll be back in the classroom getting ready to begin my third year. I'm a mixture of fairly excited and really nervous and I know from the 30th of September I will probably be moving into the library and won't be seen until next year. I cannot believe how fast my time at university has gone. I remember two years ago next week starting university thinking that three years was going to drag, but every month that goes by, time seems to be getting quicker. I can't wait to finish university, get a job and move on to the next point of my career, but part of me will really miss it. This year I'm really making the most of my final year and participating in as much as possible so I really feel that I've lived my stint at university to the full.

As much as we might not acknowledge it, the majority of us feel more confident when we're dressed for success. This year I want to practice being the trendy journalist of the future and start dressing a little less slouchy and more career ready. The wish list above shows all the items I'd love to have in my wardrobe and makeup draw this autumn. Realistically buying every item isn't going to happen, but a girl can dream.

The first item on my wish list are these beautiful Kurt Geiger wedges. I've always been a KG girl and I'm very rarely out of my studded KG heels. I'd love another pair for my wardrobe, but something I could wear on a day to day basis. These wedges would be great for when the weather is having a good day and I'm able to have time off wearing the winter boots. It's said to snow pretty early this year so maybe that won't happen, but they would be a great investment for next summer too.

Secondly I really need to buy a case for my new phone. I've recently taken out a contract for the HTC One and I seriously don't trust myself with technology. The other year I took out a 24 month contract with my old phone and dropped it within 3 months - the screen was smashed beyond repair and I think i've finally learnt my lesson.

For the last few months I've really wanted a Michael Kors watch and hopefully i'll be able to buy the Runway watch once I've saved up in the next few months. I'm not usually a fan of watches, but Michael Kors have converted me. I love the classic style, the quality and the versatility of all their watches. I could see myself wearing this piece for years to come.

The watch and heels I've selected are in autumnal colours, therefore it would be nice to have a autumn inspired lipstick to go with them. I've been a fan of Illamasqua ever since I purchased my Eurydice a while back. The quality of their lipsticks are better than most other brands I've tried and they are really long lasting, which is great for a long day at university.  I'd love to buy the Mac Groundwork paint pot to go with this lipstick as I think both the colours would look fantastic together.

Do you have any items you're lusting after at the moment?
