The Temple Bar Hotel, Dublin

Over the last few years I've had the pleasure of staying at many hotels, but nothing has ever come close to the warm Irish welcome that my husband and I had received when we checked into The Temple Bar hotel in Dublin last week. The Temple Bar hotel is conveniently situated on the main Temple Bar strip within a five minute walk from Temple Bar itself as well as being in close proximity to the river Liffey, Grafton Street (the main shopping street of Dublin) and O'Connell street which has fantastic transport links for across the city. The hotel was really easy to find, the check in process was really quick and easy and the staff were an absolute delight to talk to. On arrival we were given a map of Dublin to help us find our way around, discount cards for the new hotel restaurant and a complimentary ice-cream because of the hot weather.

As it was my husbands birthday when we were checking in, I rang up the hotel to arrange a little gift for when we walked into the hotel room. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to make the day as joyful as possible. I arranged for a bottle of house prosecco to be delivered to the room as well as a box of chocolates, but when we arrived we were given a complimentary room upgrade as well as a wonderful trio of desserts, two complimentary cocktails and a birthday card from the hotel. Our room was incredibly spacious on the third floor of the hotel and on the right hand side away from the noise of the Temple Bar strip. The room was very modern and you could tell it was recently furbished, but it also had a sense of charm to it with the beautiful photography hanging above the bed. Our room featured all the usual amenities such as kettle, ironing board, fluffy robes and slippers, as well as a rather large bathroom with Paul Costello toiletries.

During my two night stay at The Temple Bar hotel I had the comfiest night sleep and although we were in probably one of the loudest areas in Dublin, I couldn't hear any noise and I did not have to make use of the complimentary earplugs. I don't really know what I was expecting prior to checking into the hotel - part of me thought it would be one of those hotels that looked nice on the website, but would turn out to be one of those rundown places that gets taken up by a hoard of loud, drunken tourists, but I was wrong. In fact, I managed to come across one of the nicest four star boutique hotels I had visited, right in the heart of Dublin. Cead Mile Failte is lovely irish saying which translates to a 'a hundred thousand welcomes'. The Temple Bar Hotel lived up to that phrase and really did make us feel welcome, showing us that Irish hospitality is second to none.

Have you stayed in Dublin before?

*I paid for this hotel entirely myself and the hotel did not know that I was planning on doing a review

  26. Excellent article. Sadly I come across far too many 'know it alls' - they look at the beer before even tasting it and assert that it must be off. stag weekends
