My Festive Favourites

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. I love shopping for Christmas presents, the fact that everyone is full of cheer and all the seasonal products and produce on the high street and in the stores. I really enjoy the smell of mulled wine, anything with a hint of cinnamon and dark wintery nights make me want to indulge in chocolate. Today I thought I would share with you a few of my recent purchases that I think will get you in the festive spirit if you're not already.

First on my list is the Taylor's of Harrogate Spiced Apple tea. A few months ago I was sent a few samples of teas in the post when I signed up to the Taylor's of Harrogate mailing list and I was so impressed with the intense flavours of some of their fruity teas that I decided to pick up a few boxes to trial over the winter period. One of the boxes I picked up was the Spiced Apple tea and I haven't stopped drinking it since I bought it. The spiced apple tea tastes to me like Christmas in a cup. It tastes very much like a non-alcoholic mulled wine and from the first sip you are hit with bursts of juicy apple complemented with the rich taste of ginger and the bitter sweet taste of cinnamon and cardamon. It is a lovely winter warmer.

Next on my list is this Fava Bean granola from the Fava Mill. During the winter my appetite seems to rise and I'm always feeling hungry, therefore I aim to start my day with a nutritious, wholesome breakfast that will leave me feeling fuller for longer. I was recently sent a few granola samples from the Fava Mill to try and I have been really impressed. Fava Mill is a range of gourmet granola and ground fava beans, one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world - grown in Finland alone since the 13th Century, but dating back 8,000 at least in the Middle East. The Fava Mill granola range is perfect for anyone looking for a protein boost, a breakfast high in fibre and something that is full of flavour, but also dairy free and vegan.  The granolas come in a range of flavours, but my favourites have to be Cranberry and the Apple and Cinnamon, both of which are great on a wintery morning.

Christmas is the perfect time to pick up candles as there's a lot of festive scents on the market and often they are reduced in price for the festive season. I'm always on the look out for a bargain and was shocked to find this huge Mulled Wine candle on offer in Home Bargains for only £2.99. I was really impressed with the quality and scent of this candle, usually cheaper candles don't burn that well, but the scent of this one really hits you when you walk into the room and it smells lovely.  It's a great candle to burn when you have guests around.

What have been your favourite festive purchases?
