Brand in Focus: Woolovers

As the winter season draws closers the thought of stockpiling cosy knitted jumpers and winter warming clothes sounds tempting. Winter has a tendency to creep on to us a little bit too fast and this year has been no exception. It has felt like one minute I was wearing my beautiful summer dresses and then before I knew it, I was rummaging through my wardrobe desperately searching for last years winter jumpers and praying that they would still fit.

For those looking to dress up warm this winter, there's a jumper for everyone. Wrapping up warm with MaryJane Fashion

If you've been watching the news lately, you have realised that now is the time to wrap up warm as there's major storms and flooding in the UK. It's devastating seeing many beautiful villages and towns ripped to shreds in what looks like the worst flooding I've seen in a long time. I admit, I'm one of those that goes out around town wearing very little in the winter and complains when I get the flu. I often find that many jumpers leave me looking frumpy and coats can be quite bulky. However, I'm adamant to change my ways and this year I want to invest in more knitted, fluffy jumpers and some fabulous coats to keep me warm all year long. This post is dedicated to a new brand I've heard about called MaryJane Fashion. They have been quite popular with the press and sell fab and funky affordable clothes. MaryJane fashion sells lots of cosy winter jumpers and knitwear. I'm currently in love with the geeky rabbit printed jumper and I think the mint jumper would look great teamed up with a statement pearly necklace and a pair of leather leggings.

My other obsession right now is parka jackets. MaryJane Fashion has a great selection of warm winter coats and parkas*. I already own the middle jacket in black, but I love the camo green colours around at the moment. The first jacket is very similar to one of the blogger favourite parkas in Zara, but retails at almost half the price. The final jacket has leather sleeves, which if you have been reading my blog you will know that the majority of my wardrobe consists of leather. I'm in love with the biker/rock chick look and therefore I can't get enough of all the leather trends at the moment.

Have you bought any winter jackets lately?

Camouflage it!

Camouflage is currently all over the high street, taking a turn from the brass button formal military jackets to frontline uniforms. This autumn and winter sees an array of green and black camouflage gear bracing the clothing rails as well as a variety chunky boots to get you through what could potentially be a cold and snowy season. The military trend is something that I've always looked at on other people and thought it looks edgy and cool, yet I probably wouldn't be able to pull it off. I have an envy over those who can sling on a camo jacket, flick down their long brunette locks and look instantly like a catalogue model, when I wear camouflage gear I look rather frumpy. My favourite part of the army gear type clothing is being able to wear really thick, hard wearing boots like the Magnum boots shown above. When it comes to the winter season, I love being able to wear my walking boots through the snow and it to actually look rather trendy. I've paired up these sturdy pair of Magnum women's boots* with the pencil skirt and top duo from New Look, creating a feminine yet grungy appealing outfit.

If you don't feel like going too full on camouflage, you can easily incorporate the style into your outfit with a pair of camo print shoes like these from Topshop or you can always team up a pair of basic leather trousers with a camo crop top. There are many ways of introducing camouflage into your wardrobe, without you looking too much like a tomboy - unless that's the look you're personally going for.

What do you think of the Camouflage trend?

These Boots are Made for Walking

Around the UK there are rumours that the snow is upon us. It was supposed to happen this week in the North West, but we had a lucky escape. This has got me thinking about what outfits i'll be wearing to keep warm this winter and more importantly, the shoes that will keep me safe from the cold, slippery weather.

When it comes to winter shoes I like something that is sturdy and will keep me from slipping on the ice. Falling over in the winter weather is one of my biggest fears since I fell over ice-skating and damaged the cartilage in knee. Since that day my knee has overgone surgery, physio and unfortunately now has arthritis so I will do anything to prevent further injuries. Just because you need to cover up a little bit more and wear winter boots, it doesn't necessarily mean you need to be unfashionable. There are plenty of quirky boots on the market and wellies aren't the boring shade of green they used to be years ago. There are plenty of shoes out there to whet your fashion appetite and one brand in particular, Brantano has a good quite a good selection.

The first outfit I've chosen screams warmth with the snuggly fur top boots from Brantano and the suede coloured Sheepskin waterfall jacket from Topshop. At a pricey £595 for this beauty, it's unlikely that I'll be buying it this winter, but for those who have the money to splash out it looks like a fantastic, versatile piece for your wardrobe. The skinny jeans are yet again from Topshop and they come in a variety of colours. My favourite colour of skinny jeans at the moment has to be the plum red shades that are taking over the high street. They have the ability to look sophisticated and classy and they make a great alternative to the regular black and blue colours.

My next outfit features this wonderful silk blouse from Miss Selfridge, boots yet again from *Brantano and a comfy pair of leggings from New Look. I've got a little bit of an obsession with high calf boots, because if you find a pair that fits properly they can give the illusion of slimmer, taller legs - just like heels. The other two items are from two shops that I spend a considerable amount of time in and I can't get wait to get my hands on those leggings after payday.

John Lewis Secret Santa

I feel like a giddy little child looking at the date and knowing it it getting so much closer to Christmas. My Ciate advent calendar is teasingly resting on my beauty cabinet and every day I get the overwhelming urge to go open a door. To help relieve me of my 'Pre Christmas Tension', yep the time of the year where I'm getting way over excited about Christmas and turn into one of those annoying little children who repeatedly asks:"Is it time yet?", John Lewis has invited me to join their Blogger Secret Santa Campaign, with the promise of an early Christmas present.

The John Lewis Secret Santa campaign is where each participating blogger is allocated another blogger to gift a Christmas present to. We have a set amount of days to read through our selected blogger and learn all about them and when the time is up, John Lewis has kindly allowed to us to pick a present off the list to send to the blogger. On November 25th, Christmas will have come early for us bloggers and we will be able to share our wonderful surprises. I love the idea of this campaign as i'm always in such a giving mood around this time of year. Neither bloggers will know who has each other and it's going to be so fun seeing what they have selected for me.

This isn't my first time playing Secret Santa, I've done this at school and amongst friends several times before. However a blogger secret santa sounds so much more exciting and I can't wait to share my experience with you.

Damart Thermals - Keeping Warm This Winter

When I arrived home yesterday my mum came running into the kitchen saying: "It looks like you've got a Christmas present already." I gave her a bemused expression and wondered what on earth she was talking about. It turns out that she opened one of my parcels by mistake - me and my dad have the same initials and inside was this pretty red box. I already knew I was expecting a parcel from Damart, but I definitely didn't expect the beautiful packaging and the lovely little memo card.

When Damart first approached me to write a review of their range I was a little apprehensive. 'Thermals are for my grandmas' was the first thing that came to my head. I admit I was quite naive, but nethertheless I wanted to experience the brand first hand before making such statements. With all this stormy weather hitting the UK and winter on the horizon, it's the best time to start looking into purchasing thermals. I often suffer from low body temperature with being iron deficient and there are days that I long for something that would make me feel as cosy as I do when I'm in my nice warm bed.

Damart are one of the leading brands for thermal clothing internationally and are known for developing Thermolactyl, a man made fibre that is renowned for keeping you warm without the bulky clothing. Damart's thermal range is now celebrating 60 years in production, making them a reliable and trustworthy much loved brand.I selected the 'Damart Knitted Booties' to bring to the review table and I now can't imagine a day without them keeping my feet warm.

The Damart knitted booties are made using thermal technology and are the perfect choice for everyone that suffers from persistent cold feet or a person that loves a good pair of slippers. They are incredibly soft on the inside and slide onto feet effortlessly. I love walking around in them as they are comfortable and fit more like a shoe than a conventional pair of slippers. The booties have a relatively thick sole making them long lasting and easy to wear around the house. If it isn't the thermal technology that has sold these slippers to you, their cute design with the beautiful fur trim will definitely win you over. When I look at these slippers I think of nights beside the fire and sipping wine on a cold Christmas evening. They're more than a pair of slippers, they feel like luxury and at £15 they have the perfect price tag.

These boots may be my first thermal item, but they definitely won't be the last. Damart, you have converted me and brought me over to the warmer side of life. My feet are eternally grateful.

Winter Wishlist

Images are from the various companies websites, not my own.

At this very moment I'm currently analysing my bank balance and putting items in shopping baskets online wishing that I could be an instant millionaire. Wouldn't it be fantastic if we had all the money in the world and saving up for clothes shopping wasn't an issue? Obviously my dream millions wouldn't be spent on clothes and makeup everyday, but I know for a fact my wardrobe would look so much better with some more investment.

These impulsive shopping thoughts that are currently taking over my brain have made me want to write a wish list post. There's so many things I really want to buy at the moment and the high street seems full of everything that I'm in love with - tartan and leather are two of my favourite things, both wanting to bring out the rock chick inside of me that semi-disappeared when I was thirteen. Not to mention all the red clothing out and about at the moment. I love the colour red so much that it pretty much dominates my wardrobe.

The first item on my wishlist are the UGG Alloway Studded casual shoes. I've always been so adamant that I would never own a pair of UGGs and when asked of my opinion about them, it was always negative. I think I became too accustomed to seeing chavs walking around town in them and I found the fact that they look like slippers a bit off putting. UGG seem to have really changed their ways lately and I'm finding the newer releases a lot more stylish and I think they're definitely onto a winner with their range of flats. I'm not really a fan of boots and when the weather turns nasty, I'm always wearing my plimsolls and getting my feet wet to the point that they're almost turning blue. I love the fact that UGG have incorporated their warm sheepskin lining into a more versatile pair of shoes. A pair of shoes that can go with most outfits and something you wouldn't usually associate with slippers. At £70 they are a little bit pricey for a pair of flats, but I'm more than willing to spend that much to keep my toes from getting frostbite this winter.

Second on my list is the beautifully striking dress from Fashion Union. I love the red and black mesh combination and I really think it would look great worn on various different occasions. On halloween it could be easily transformed into a red devil outfit and it would also look fab on the lead up to Christmas. I could easily imagine myself wearing this dress on a night out with the girls and most of the time, if I can see myself wearing it so vividly I know I'll have to buy it.

Last Christmas I was absolutely gutted when I discovered my favourite nail polish brand Ciate had released an advent calendar and it had sold out before I had the chance to get it. I went green with envy browsing through bloggers opening the little nail polish doors every day until Christmas and seeing their tiny little Ciate collection be unleashed before my eyes. This year I need to get my hands on this advent calendar or i'll go into despair. Ciate are the nail polish brand I wear almost every single day and I absolutely adore them. The Ciate advent calendars are £42 and can be purchased from the online Ciate shop or Selfridges.

Finally, this last item is from the online jewellery retailer Bijoux Bazaar. I came across a link to their shop whilst talking on the #fblchat this evening and fell in love with their jewellery. Everything looks glitzy and glamorous and all at fantastic prices. This will definitely be next purchase on payday, because at £9 it's a fashion steal.

What's on your winter wishlist?
