Summer Party with Peacocks

With the heatwave just around the corner, I think it's safe to say it's finally British summertime and there's plenty of amazing summer inspired outfits on the high street. A few weeks ago Peacocks decided to show me a few items of their lastest range and having shopped there for quite some time, I was pretty excited. I been through the whole motion of dress sizes, from plus size to petite and having experienced how difficult it is to find certain sizes, I have to say Peacocks always used to come out as 'top trump' when I was a bigger lady. Peacocks have an excellent summer range out at the top from inspiring 50s tea dresses to eye popping florals. The dress above has a lace mid-drift which is perfect to cool you down and the floral pattern blends in with the beautiful flowers popping up all over peoples gardens.

The second item from Peacocks is this gorgeous midi skirt. I know it doesn't look obvious in this picture (hurray), but I do have a little bit of a jiggly belly and this is the first time I've found a midi skirt that hides it well. If there was one criticism, it would be that it's quite large for a size 8, but then again, with most of the high street making clothes that only fit mannequins, a little bigger can sometimes be a good thing. At £12 you simply can't go wrong.

One of my favourite items from the collection is this very elegant 50s inspired tea dress. Unfortunately I've managed to damage the zip so I couldn't wear it to show you, but wearing this dress was really a delight. It nips in at the waist and gives you an effortless hourglass figure - something most girls would love to have. My mum is excellent at sewing and has vowed to fix this dress for me, so watch this space, there might be a review about it soon.

Have you bought anything from Peacocks lately?

Gimme a Smooch!

The weather is ever so slightly picking up and i'm seeing myself grabbing more exotic coloured lipsticks. Orange and apricot shades are my favourite at the moment, because they are subtly bright and not too over the top.  This Smooch lipstick in shade Inferno is my latest obsession and I like it that much, that I've bought two of them.

The first thing I need to comment on is the cute packaging.  It has a vintage vibe and I love the adorable chantilly lace design. The casing has a soft, easy grip texture, which makes the lipstick easy to apply. It doesn't slip out of your hands and it helps create a surdy application. The packaging feels rather expensive for the £7.50 price tag, which makes this lipstick a great bargain.

I love the colour of the lipstick as it compliments my skin tone and hair colour, however I admit it's a colour that not everyone could probably pull off.  I think the product is definitely more suited to darker hair colours as it makes the lipstick look dramatic, but yet toned down.

As I've mentioned before, I love this lipstick and adding fact that I've already bought another when I haven't even finished the first one, I can definitely see this as a product that I will be wearing for quite sometime.

Have you tried any Smooch Cosmetics before?

Lusting over Denim

According to the fashion bible that is Vogue magazine, cropped trousers are definitely in season this 2013. Designers such as Alexander McQueen shown above are embracing the shorter length trouser for a casual, yet striking look. There are so many varieties on short cropped jeans on the market right now and I've chosen Australian brand "Katies" to show you some fine examples.

There's nothing more versatile than the classic denim jean. Dress them up with a peplum top and heels or dress down with a stripey tee for a nautical look.

Pastel colours are all over the high street at the moment  evoking a sense of youth and innocence. These baby blue crops would look great for a day of shopping with friends or lingering on a beach. Unfortunately they're not quite suitable for the British snow weather right now, but they're great to purchase for when the weather gets better.

Finally, these orange coloured crops are the perfect staple trouser for this season. Bright colours are in and also very daring styles. Be different, be vibrant and be unique in these little beauties.
