Michael Kors, I Love You: MK5896

MK5896

Before leaping into my exciting news about my new Michael Kors purchase, I must apologise for the lack of blog posts during the last few weeks. Just over a week ago, I was hit by the devastating news that a close family member was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The word cancer is often a difficult diagnosis to digest and as she was previously a healthy, happy go lucky woman it came as such a shock to members of our family. What came as an even bigger shock was that she sadly passed away only a week after finding out. Our family has been rocked by this tragic news and my thoughts and prayers are currently with my cousins, whom I love so much and cannot imagine what they are currently going through. My auntie was the reason behind my love for writing, as when I was a child she would babysit me and ask me to write her stories. She fuelled my imagination and kept my creativity alive. If it wasn't for her, my grandma and my parents keeping me passionate about writing, I very much doubt I would be as successful as I am today - on the final journey of my university degree, writing a blog I love more than life itself and being able to take my passion and make it into my future career. All this news came two days before my 23rd birthday and just under a year since I lost my other auntie. I also received the terrible news that I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis a chronic, degenerative condition that has affected my hands, wrists, feet and knees. I doubt I could have had a harder week if I tried...oh wait, my dissertation is due this week too. Luckily I have been able to get an extension on my university and this weekend I was able to attempt to let my hair down and celebrate my birthday, after all both my aunties wouldn't have wanted to see me upset on my special day of the year.

If there is one thing that recent events have taught me, it is that life is too short. Hence, the reason why I grabbed my purse on my birthday and blew £230 on the beautiful MK5896 Michael Kors watch from their latest collection. Honestly, I am not that materialistic, I don't always resolve my problems whilst doing elaborate shopping. I have wanted a Michael Kors watch for the last two years. Nearly every day I would visit my local House of Fraser trying them on and trying to figure out what to buy. I'm not that wealthy, so £230 on a watch is a big deal for me. I don't have that money lying around to be spent. This weekend I eventually came to the conclusion that if I have wanted something for nearly two years, it is clearly a worthy investment and something that I will not regret.

Michael Kors MK5896

The Michael Kors watch I eventually opted for is the MK5896 one of the latest additions to the Michael Kors range. The watch features a pastel pink, blush coloured accentuate bracelet and a rose gold stainless steel finish, which is a perfect accessory for incorporating this seasons pastel pink trends. I love this watch as the pink, rose gold tones match my skin complexion perfectly and although the watch is weighty, it isn't too heavy on my wrist. The watch has a high quality finish and glistens every time I wear it, so far I have a fair few compliments and I haven't stopped wearing it since Saturday. Do I have any regrets buying this? Absolutely not. The MK5896 is a timeless, feminine piece and as long nothing happens to it, I can see myself wearing this for a very long time.

Sunday Style: Born Pretty Review

Watches have never really been on my highly rated list. I used to think they made wrists look clumpy and that they felt incredibly uncomfortable. As a child my mum always used to buy me watches and I refused to wear them. I think that as you grow into an adult and need to become aware of the time more often, that's when people that hated wearing watches as a child suddenly sees them as a priority. I can't speak for everyone, but that's exactly what happened to me. One day I hated them and didn't care about owning any and the next day I was waking up in the morning thinking I really need to buy one. I remember walking into River Island and picking up this beautiful rose gold watch, an imitation of the Michael Kors ones and thinking I'm in love with it. My partner looked at me as if I had taken something or like I had been replaced by aliens. Even he knew how much I hated watches. A few years on and I'm looking at expanding my watch collection and I'm enjoying looking at the varieties you can buy in store and online. My newest watch is this beautiful creation from the Born Pretty Store.*

The Born Pretty store in a worldwide wholesale company and the inspiration for the store name derives from the proverb "each woman is born pretty." A quote from their About Us page describes the store by saying:" Born Pretty Store is a store intended to provide each ordinary female, whoever they are, wherever they come from, with the latest fashion items of nail art, makeup and outfit, helping them find the best way to dress up, which ultimately push outside their potential of beauty to the fullest." The store specialises in beauty products, accessories and jewellery all at affordable prices.

I love this beautiful bracelet inspired watch because it's comfortable to wear and looks more like a piece of jewellery than a standard watch. The beads add sparkle and the gold chain detailing is beautiful. Ordering from a wholesale site, it is a given that I would have had to wait a while for the shipping, but I feel like the product was definitely worth the wait. Especially when this watch was less than £5. Not only do I like the detailing of this watch, I also love the antique style clock handles as it adds a little retro flair to piece. The watch has button fastening clips and can be adjusted to fit the size of your wrist. When I first ordered this watch for review, I didn't really think it would live up to expectations. After all, I think many of us have ordered an item off a wholesale website and it's turned up looking nothing like the photograph. This watch however, lives up to the description and it's won me over. I'm pretty happy with the new addition to my watch collection.

This quirky little watch is a hidden treasure amongst many other wonderful pieces at the Born Pretty Store. For those who like something a little bit different to add to their style or simply like hauling in affordable jewellery, this shop is definitely for you.

Birthday Wishlist

Tonight, it finally dawned on me that my birthday is in 5 weeks and I need to get organised. I shall be celebrating this year in London with my beautiful fiance, where we will be staying in a hotel, going to see Rock of Ages and drinking cocktails all evening in the capital. I'm far too excited and going to London on my actual birthday means I can have my dream shopping spree. In this post, I thought I'd share with you some of the items I'm loving at the moment and my birthday wishlist. The majority of these items listed are things I shall be saving up for until the the trip, however I'm hoping that someone very close will give me a helping hand...hint...hint. (only joking...well maybe)

This year I'm going to be 22. I will be leaving my youth behind me and progressing to the next stage of my life. 21 has been my favourite year and I've experienced so many things I've always dreamt of. It's funny realising that I only have one more birthday after this one and I'll be married. This is my last year as an unmarried woman and I'm planning on doing as much as I can with my partner before we really settle down, start saving for a house deposit and living as husband and wife.

Back to the shopping list. Here's the items I would currently sell one of my kidneys for:
I'm not usually a scarf person, but lately I seem to be wearing them all the time. I've been a follower of AmeilaWonders Etsy shop for quite awhile and I've always wanted to order this scarf, but every time I remember it, I seem to have little money. I love the bright pink colour of this scarf and the cosmic design. It's vibrant and would make any outfit stand out from the crowd.
Michael Kors has always been one of my top designers and I can't get enough of my beautiful Michael Kors shoes. This Michael Kors watch is elegant, timeless and would look sophisticated with any outfit. I love expensive accessories more than I do expensive clothes. They can really revamp an outfit and they go with everything. I know if I was to get this watch, it would be something that I would wear nearly every day.

  • A Passport
It probably doesn't sound like the most conventional birthday present, but I really need to renew my passport and thanks to my parents, I shall be getting one in a few weeks time. I'm planning to travel to Ireland and Italy this year and hopefully lots more places too. Ideally, I'd like to visit Paris by the end of the year - I love that place.

My next collage of items are things I'm planning on buying myself. I realise that when I turn 22, birthday presents are pretty much out of the window, so I'm going to be spoiling myself. After all, we do deserve a treat on our special day. Here's a few things I plan on treating myself to on my shopping spree:
The 1950s is my favourite decade and all Jones and Jones dresses remind me of 50s icons. The petticoats are full bodied giving you those ultimate curves and they have great dance ability. I love the feminine styles, the colours and they would easily suit any body shape. The dress I want at the moment is the Claire mint dress as it's perfect for the spring and summer and easy to style.
  • Jimmy Choo Flash
In my valentines perfume post, I wrote about how much I would like this perfume and my birthday seems like the perfect opportunity to buy it. I find that all my perfumes relate to a pivotal point in my life and I tend to buy them when something is about to happen. Each of perfume symbolise a part of my personal history and I love the fact that I can relate so easily with the scent. The first Jimmy Choo perfume will always remind me of my friends wedding, Roberto Cavalli is the perfume I wore when I got engaged and Benefit Hooked on Carmella reminds me of my college days.
  • Pandora London Bus
When my partner bought me my Pandora bracelet, I couldn't wait to fill it with charms. However, I'm trying to only buy them when something important happens in my life. It makes it more personal and each charm will then have a story I could tell my future children or even my friends if they ever ask. London has always been one of my favourite cities and it's the place where I got engaged. Therefore, I shall be popping into Pandora and buying the London bus as a souvenir whilst I'm visiting.
  • MAC Archie Girl Lipstick
This lipstick is more likely to be one of my pre-birthday presents as I'm pretty sure it will be out of stock in the next few weeks. The MAC Archie Girl line is very popular with those who love vintage inspired items or something a little bit kooky. I think the whole range is absolutely adorable and if I could afford it all, I would buy it instantly. However, for now I'd definitely be happy with one of the lipsticks.

So there's my little wish list. I'd easily be happy with just one of those items, but I'm hoping one day to own most of them.

Do you have anything you're lusting after right now?
