Sunday Favourites

I'm sat in bed on the laptop and currently thinking 'I can't believe it's Sunday again'. This week has flown so fast and all I've done is work and not stopped. It's strange to think that I arranged my work experience with Welcome to Yorkshire several months ago and now it's tomorrow that i'll be heading over to their office for a week. I love playing intern and cannot wait for the experience, but as always I'm a little bit apprehensive and I'm really not sure about the outfit I've hung up on my wardrobe. I can probably guarantee that will change several times before I leave the house tomorrow.

In today's short, but sweet blog post I've decided to show you three of my favourite things I've recently purchased or have been sent. The above image is a picture of my new shoes from Dorothy Perkins. They were a steal at £15 and I'm looking forward to wearing them for my work experience tomorrow. I've been searching for a pair of pretty kitten heels and I've finally found a pair I love.

The second item is Bijoux Bazaar bracelet I've been chirping on about for the last few days. I ordered it not too long ago and it arrived really quickly. Being a little bit judgemental from past experiences, I didn't know what to expect ordering a piece of jewellery offline that had such a low price. I'm usually pretty happy to invest a little bit of money into jewellery, because there's a fine line between pretty and tacky. When the bracelet arrived I was shocked by the superb quality and how pretty it looks. I can't stop wearing it and I've already seen other pieces of jewellery I'd like to buy from the website. I can see the Brent Bug earrings making their way onto my shopping list in the near future.

My final item is this beautiful bag I was sent by the team at Bon Prix. I've been using it quite a lot lately that I haven't actually got round to blogging about it until now. The snake skin and leather pattern look bang on trend for this autumn and I love the tassel detailing. The bag goes with quite a lot of outfits and it's perfect as a small every essential. This tassel side tote can be bought from the Bon Prix website for £28, which I think is a reasonable price.

Great Gatsby Inspired Outfit

Since I watched the Great Gatsby in the cinemas a few weeks ago, I've been craving a glittery dress. The whole film showcases the most elaborate sequins, beautiful flowing 20s style dresses and lots of bright colours. Whilst watching the film, I felt like I wanted to be transported to those parties and join in the fun. Unfortunately this is not the 1920s, so i'll have to find some glittery ensemble and recreate a Gatsby party myself.  A delightful PR lady dropped me an email to show me their latest Great Gatsby inspired clothing lines and I instantly felt drawn to this dress. Sometimes you have a gut feeling when you see a picture that the dress is meant for you and you know that it's definitely going to suit you. I've searched for a lot of glittery dresses in the past and apart from my beautiful French Connection Samantha dress, I haven't found another one I like. I'm really picky as when it comes to glitter dresses, there's a fine line between tacky and spectacular. The majority of the time, unless you can splurge a decent amount of money on a glittery outfit, you're stuck with something that looks a tiny bit shabby.

I received this dress in the post on Thursday - having ran down to answer the door in my underwear to prevent the delivery driver taking it to the depot. It was quite an embarrassing moment and full of cheesy chat up lines from the rather embarrassed male, but alas, it was all worth it. Tacky? Falling apart? Of course not, this dress looked sewn to perfection. On my first introduction to Bon Prix, my initial stance was that the dresses suited a more mature lady and I probably wouldn't shop there myself. However, when my previous purple dress arrived, I was really happy with the quality and pricing that my opinion completely altered. The dresses are a little more demure - they cut below the knee and offer sophistication rather than a tight little mini skirt and I like that. I haven't had a bad experience with the company or their pr team and its become top of my bookmark list that I check almost every week.

This sequinned bust dress can be purchased from Bon Prix for the affordable price tag of £29.99. On initial inspection of the dress, none of the sequins seemed lose - something I tend to find with a lot of sequin dresses, the sizing is pretty spacious and the dress overall is really well made. The only thing I would comment on is that fact that it is a very roomy size 6 - 8. I would never consider myself a size 6 and although I own a few size 6 items, I'd say they are more verging on a size 8. This dress seems to fit me easily, but I could see it might be a little big on a size 6. Apart from that, yet again, Bon Prix scores 5/5 for their clothing again. Having worn this at my partners garden party the other day and the sun shimmering off the gold, I was left with confidence. The dress was comfy and felt like a second skin - something that all clothing should feel like.

Positive in Purple

This last week has been very difficult to say the least, but I finally feel that I'm climbing the ladder of positivity and looking towards the bright side of life. This is clearly demonstrated in my clothing colour selection. I have recently been sent this beautiful dress to show you by Bon Prix and I feel the colour is quite appropriate to how I'm feeling at the moment - pretty peaceful, mellow and trying to get on with my life.

The dress is such a wonderful, flirty colour and evokes a sense of retro chic office wear. The material is comfortable and allows adequate breathing space - perfect for someone leading a very hectic lifestyle like myself. The only issue I have with this dress is that it's slightly loose around my stomach and makes me look a tiny bit podgy - this isn't any fault of the manufacturer, it's simply mine for having an awkward body shape.

The length of the dress is just below the knee line and fits perfectly on my 5ft4 frame. This is quite an achievement as most dresses are either too long or a bit too short...thumbs up for Bon Prix.

Bold colours are bang on trend at the moment and sometimes it really does give you a confidence boost wearing an item with personality.

This dress is £29.99 and I think it would be a great little investment for anyones wardrobe. It's certainly cheered me up.
