Have you ever been for a day out and wished you had the facilities to freshen up before you went about your day? Or, have you ever wanted to book an afternoon out with friends, but didn't have a place where you could all get changed? Dayuse.com is an online platform where you can rent out hotel rooms during the day instead of evening, whether it's for a 'daycation' to make use of the many spa hotels or if you're simply looking for somewhere to get changed, pass some time if you have a long day in a big city or a place to grab a few hours nap in between travelling. There has been many times I have travelled to a city and wished I had a place to leave my things and pop back every few hours to reapply my makeup/grab a coffee/even change my outfit without having to call in numerous cafes and bars, so when Dayuse asked me if I wanted to try out their services, I was really intrigued.
Dayuse.com works with over 300 hotels in the UK, 160 of which are in London and all of them have a generous discount applied with no credit card required and free cancellation. I chose to visit Hotel Gotham in Manchester as I heard so many great things about the hotel and the city centre location meant that it was really convenient for a day of shopping in the city. I checked in this morning with no hassle, despite being slightly terrified that staff would assume I was 'up to no good' checking into a lavish hotel with a man in broad daylight and the staff seemed incredibly friendly. When we arrived at our room, one of the club rooms, my husband and I were taken aback by the luxurious surroundings and literally stood at the door for a few seconds in awe taking in the view.
The room at Hotel Gotham was faultless despite being one of their smaller rooms and I was really impressed with all the fine details such as the travel magazines on dresser, the row of classic novels including my all time favourite book 'The Great Gatsby', the White Company toiletries in the bathroom and the 'Hotel Gotham' newspaper printed in a 1920s style detailing the room service menu. The mini bar was also well stocked with luxury nibbles such as Joseph and Sephs popcorn and there was a row of really fancy glassware to make the stay feel even more special. The room even came with a bottle of complimentary house champagne.
During the day my husband and I popped in and out of the room to rest our feet, drop off our shopping bags and grab a quick drink, it was nice to have a place where you can relax and not feel watched during a busy day and although we were only in Manchester a few hours, it was a nice luxury. I can imagine this would be great for those visiting a city further away who are looking to do some sightseeing and need a place to relax in the middle of it all and I can also see the benefits of booking a room like this for a special day out. It was great to have a glimpse into the 'daycationing' side of hotel booking and I think if I'm ever visiting London or somewhere further afield I would definitely look at using this service.
Have you ever checked into a hotel for just a few hours?
