Red Lace and Blush: Shopping Haul

I don't know what it is about shopping that excites me. Whenever I go to town, I cannot resist a sneak peek in my favourite high street stores or looking in the pretty boutiques. I seem to get an adrenaline rush every time I leave with shopping bags in hand and my new favourite goodies. Heck I admit it, I'm a shoppaholic, but so far I'm handling my money really well and still contributing to the wedding fund. Therefore it's only fair that I grab myself some weekly treats every now and then...usually meaning every couple of days. In this short, but sweet blog post, I thought I'd summarise todays little findings.

When I woke up and applied my makeup this morning, I had a craving for cream blusher. I say that like it's some kind of food, but no, I looked in the mirror and realised how pale I looked. I wanted a little bit of colour to bring me alive and make me look less sleepy.

I've always loved the Topshop cosmetic range and years ago I purchased the exact same cream blusher and it lasted me forever. Today for the second time, I picked up my trusty old favourite, Topshop's 'Afternoon Tea' cream blusher. The consistency of this product is heavenly. It applies with a simple finger slide and looks fantastic in this highly pigmented shade. Afternoon Tea reminds me of vintage products and anything that resembles old school beauty is definitely a winner for me.

The second item I bought is this cute little skirt from Dorothy Perkins. You know when you go into a shop, get to the till and it's cheaper than the tag price? Bingo, it happened to me today. This skirt was originally £12 down from £22, which I originally thought was a steal. Imagine my delight when I got to the till and was told it was £7 - an extra £5 saving. This skirt will be great for my casual, yet smart work experience outfits. Teamed up with a little white blouse, I have a feeling this outfit will be a winner.

Finally, I went to be measured at La Senza today. A lot of people I know have very mixed opinions on La Senza, but personally I've always loved the brand. Their bras seem to fit me really well and I've always liked the styles. My friends are more Ann Summers girls, but it's all down to personal preference. I remember going for my first ever bra fitting and feeling insanely nervous about what was going to happen. Would she judge my boobs? What if she saw my stretch marks on my tummy? Gosh, is she going to be some kind of lesbian? These days its off with the top and let it all hang out. For those who have never had a bra fitting - do it. It's somewhat liberating and the feeling when you wear a bra that actually fits is amazing. Of course you're going to be hesitant, it's not every day that someone is clinging a tape measure round boobs, but I've left the store today with two bras that have made the world of difference to my outfits and even notched me up a few cup sizes.

I love the vibrant colour of the above bra and the pretty lace detailing. The bra has removable straps and a cute little bow detail in the centre. This is one of their 4x cleavage enhancement bras that dramatically pushes your boobs up to give the illusion of them being two cup sizes bigger. It's not like I want to be Katie Price or anything, but when you have small B cups like mine, it's a delight to look down and see a fuller cleavage. The second bra I bought was also a push up bra, but instead it's in plain black. It fits comfortably and I'm really happy with my purchase.

What have you been buying lately?

Hot Hair Hair Extensions

The last few days I've demonstrated in my blog posts how to change your hair from brunette, to ombre, and curly brunette. It's been one hell of a fake hair week, with forevermissvanity more fake hair than at a barbie factory and i'm pretty sure it's not going to be the end of my extension experiments. However, for now, the last lot of hair extensions I'm going to show you are the hair pony tails from Hot Hair.

Images taken from the HotHair website
HotHair.co.uk has a variety of clip in hair extensions to suit your everyday need. Whether you're looking for long flowing tresses or a perfect pony, they have it in stock. My main focus today is their range of clip in pony tails, great for those who have fine or shorter hair. There's a vast selection to choose from like hair that is already curled or a braided pony tail. These are great to use when you're in a hurry as they simply clip in and go. HotHair kindly sent me a pony tail to show you, however the shade is slightly darker than my own hair.

As you can see, the pony tail is clipped onto the back of my pre-existing pony and a piece of hair is then wrapped around the base to cover the hair fixtures. In this photo, you can see the difference of shade between my hair and the pony tail, however it's not too bad. It's advisable that you really analyse the different colours available to you before buying and maybe even asking a friend or relative to double check you're ordering the right one. With hair extensions, it's almost impossible to get the exact shade of your own colour as the majority of your hair pigment is a mix from all the previous colours you may have used or natural highlights due to sun exposure. Despite this muddle up, I do see the benefits of the clip on pony's. Having fine hair myself, I really do think that they are the solution for a thick lengthy pony hair on a night out. At £19.00 - which is cheaper than a hair cut and blow-dry, you really can't go wrong.

Salon Confidential: Brunette Extensions

As you may have noticed, I've had a rather big obsession with my hair lately and I'm becoming a hoarder of hair extensions. My new favourite everyday clip in hair extensions come from a brand called 'Salon  Confidential'. Salon Confidential are big hit with celebrities and are making a name for themselves within the hair community.

These hair extensions are in the colour chestnut brown and they are a perfect match to my hair. Salon Confidential hair extensions are all pre-styled so you can simply clip them in and go. I love the natural wave they have and how my hair is transformed to a Kate Middelton-esque style within seconds.

The best thing about these hair extensions is that they come in 12 pieces, unlike most hair extensions that come with a trio weft and a few for the side. This allows you to get easy volume and it's easier to spread the hair extensions out so they cover the whole area of your head and look more natural. These come in a 18 inch length, which is perfect for me.

With the hair extensions being pre-curled, it gives you time to focus on getting ready to go out, rather than spending hours on your hair. I love the finished result when they are finally in.

And here's the finished result. Comfortable, natural looking and very curly. I could wear them everyday.

These hair extensions are £45 from

Planning a Hen Party In Brighton

As you all know, next year i'll be leaving my single life behind me and jumping on the marriage bandwagon. I'm ridiculously excited about the service, the church bells and my 1950s theme, however i haven't even started thinking about my hen do. I was recently advised that Brighton may be a good place to look and here's Carla Vercetti's guide to why Brighton is where the fun is at.

The hen party is your last opportunity to have a massive night out with all your girl friends before you get married, so it’s important that it’s a night to remember. Whether you want a night of drinking and dancing, dinner and cocktails or to do something really different, Brighton is the best place to go for an entertaining night out with your best friends by the sea.
Brighton has very good transport links, so is easy to get to from anywhere in the UK. If you’re in a large group, why not think about hiring a coach? Brighton’s main coach park is at Pool Valley, in the middle of all the action between the seafront and the bars of the Old Lanes, and it means nobody has to miss out as the designated driver. Trains from London and other destinations across the south coast are regular, with a fast train from London Victoria to Brighton taking just 51 minutes.
If you’re looking for a classic night of drinking and dancing, Brighton is an excellent choice. There are dozens of clubs and bars in the town centre. For a younger crowd, head to the student-filled clubs on the seafront, such as Digital, Life and Coalition. Some of the bars which see lots of hen groups include Madame Geisha and Lola Lo, a Tiki-themed bar on East Street. Vodka Revolution offers special packages for groups, such as cocktail making, or you can reserve an area in Oceana for something more exclusive.
For gourmand goddesses, Brighton is a foodie haven. As well as all the big chains, there is a vast amount of small, independently owned restaurants for you to investigate. For a sociable Spanish option, Casa don Carlos in the Old Lanes has Brighton’s best selection of tapas, including chorizo, seafood and vegetable dishes. Dermot O’Leary’s Fishy Fishy is a good choice for fish fans, with Food For Friends and Terre a Terre being the best options for vegetarians and vegans.
Action-loving groups will love the chance to try zorbing on the picturesque South Downs. If you’ll be heading down during the winter, the Royal Pavilion has a beautiful outdoor ice skating rink to try out your latest tricks on. The really brave can head to the hills just outside Brighton to try their hands at paragliding for a truly spectacular view over idyllic rural Sussex.
For a hen night that will send you off into married life with a bang, pick beautiful bohemian Brighton. You’re guaranteed to have a fantastic night, and you could even make a weekend of it and spend the daytime lounging on the beach!

Mining Landscapes Vanessa G

Vanessa G Presents ‘Mining Landscapes'

Vanessa G presents the ‘Mining Landscapes’ collection - three separate ranges that have taken inspiration from nature and mining, combining metal, gems and nature inspired prints to create stunning pieces.

A-line and tailored dresses feature alongside fitted pencil skirts and wide legged jumpsuits. An elegant blazer and skinny fit trousers teamed with a classic silk shirt are a must for a sleek and sophisticated look. The collection is finished with the Vanessa G signature printed trench, outerwear that takes centre stage in any outfit.

The ‘Mining Landscapes’ collection consists of three striking looks:
Rare Earth: Intrigued by the relationship between mining and nature, this range uses detailed designs to bring Vanessa G’s principle of Art’Outure’ to life. Flora and fauna play a prominent role in depicting the value of raw materials and their ability to enhance the beauty of a sector in a kaleidoscope of colours.

From Creation To Discovery: Emulating the beauty of minerals from their raw form to the final product, Discovery to Creation depicts the earths precious materials and their influence on nature. Timeless and versatile silhouettes are complemented by unique prints and colours to create a picturesque expression.

Chain Reaction: Utilising chains in both their rustic and polished forms, Chain Reaction is symbolic of the processes and links in the mining sector used to extrapolate these precious metals and stones from the earth. Bright colours draw beauty and harmony into consciousness.

Perfume of the week: Loverdose by Diesel

I'm currently sat in bed feeling rather under the weather, applying my make up and 'spritzing' perfume all around. I love how a touch of perfume can make you feel worth a million dollars and give you an uplift on a really bad day. My day has been eventful to say the least, starting with a trip to the doctors and ending up in hospital for an Xray to try see the root cause of my current back pain. I'm now feeling miserable and sorry for myself, whilst attempting to cheer myself up in the best way I know how.

Loverdose is one of the most popular female fragrances by Diesel*. The perfume is said to be enthused with molecules that can apparently make you lust worthy to those who can a sneaky sniff as you walk by. The box is bright pink, really attractive to a vibrant teenage culture and the perfume bottle is more Rock'n'Roll than the Rolling Stones...okay, maybe an over exaggeration, but I love it. Who wouldn't love a black and pink heart shaped perfume bottle?

The most coincidental thing to have happened is that I was sent this to review by Lloyds Pharmacy to promote the fact that they are more than a pharmacy and they supple an ample amount of beauty and body products. This is the exact same pharmacy I was picking up with masses of Co-Codomol from this morning and when I saw the parcel box, I thought the chemist had screwed up on my order and sent me extra. Would you think of a pharmacy as the first place to buy beauty products? Admittedly I wouldn't, but this whole experience has totally changed my perception. I'm more inclined to skip into the chemist and sneakily grab a few lipsticks and perfume alongside my birth control pill. Beauty products make women feel better and that's exactly what you need when you're under the weather. Lloyds Pharmacy, you have hit a goldmine.

The perfume smells very floral, yet spicy. It's a mixture of scents that bundle together and always leave you surprised. One minute I can smell vanilla, then a few minutes later the liquorice scent seeps through. It evokes a sense of good girl gone bad, floral meets dark and musky. Great for those that like to play around with their scents.

Loverdose costs £32.50 from http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/

Wonderland Wigs: Brunette to Ombre!

Have you ever felt the urge to change the way you look, but not had a clue where to start? Being a fashion and beauty blogger, I'm always keen to try out the latest trends and play with my self image. I always find that a new hairstyle is one of the easiest ways to give yourself a confidence boost, but it doesn't always have to be as dramatic as cutting half your hair off or going from black to blonde. Wonderland Wigs recently introduced me to their range of 3/4 wigs and being a fan of hair extensions, I knew it was something that would love to try out.  Wonderland wigs have such a wonderful variety of hair extensions to suit your needs. Whether you're keen to try the ombre trend or want something bright and bold for a party, there's a fab range from as little as £25 to £180.

So here's a picture of me I took a few days ago with my usually dark brown hair extensions. I'm wearing my brand new Specsaver's glasses and trying to go all geek chic. Since the beginning of the year, I've had the urge to ombre my hair, however last time I did I tried, it really ruined the ends of my hair and ended up not looking the best. The only way I could properly get it done would be to spend a lot of money at the hairdressers and then again, I would still have to live with throughly conditioning my hair every week to stop it snapping. When I came across the Ombre 3/4 22 inch wig, I felt like it could be my saviour and the answer to my problems.

Ta-da!  It works a treat and I've had so many compliments so far. My hair looks thick, luxurious and ombred whilst maintaining it's health. The wig was quite difficult to put in at first, but there are easy guides on Youtube to get you started.

I love how hair extensions enable the wearer to change how they look within the space of 10 minutes. I've gone from a dark brunette to dip dyed blonde. The wig stays on perfectly and blends really easy with my normal hair, despite being synthetic. My only niggle would be that they feel quite heavy to wear at times, but that's the price you pay for super volume locks.

The ombre wig costs £39.99 from Wonderland Wigs and I think it's a great price for the quality. You get a whole head of hair and I'm sure if it's maintained properly, it could last quite awhile. Would I be wearing these wig extensions again? Yes, all the time. It's great to have a refreshing summer look and be able to snap into winter mode within seconds. When you have cravings for light summer hair, sometimes its better to take a less drastic approach than grabbing hold of a bleach bottle.

Do you like these extensions?

Here comes the bride - Wedding Invitations

As many of you will know, in just over a year's time I will be getting married and right now, the pressure is on to get all the preparations started. Before I got engaged, I envisioned myself as a Bridezilla knowing exactly how I wanted things and frequently throwing temper tantrums. In fact, I'm now completely the opposite. I'm calm, collected and I have a kind of 'don't really care aslong as I get married' attitude. The struggles me and James have faced during our times together and the loss of some really prevalent people in our lives has made us realise that we could get married in shack and still be insanely happy. We're looking for a low key, intimate affair with friends and family being our focus.

Sometimes having a laid back attitude is the best way, but then again, there is a time when it becomes borderline lazy. I admit, I've very much become that person. I keep looking at the list getting all excited and then when I realise how much work I have to do, I freeze and try to distract myself.  I really underestimated how much there is to arrange when you get married. I mean - I don't know the difference between chrysanthemums and gypsophilas and don't even get me started on the various descriptions of wedding dresses which all inevitably conclude they are the same colour, white.

Despite all this ranting, I'm very much excited about the wedding and marrying my handome prince. Aslong as we make it down the asile in one piece, I'll be a happy bunny. To make sure there is a wedding to attend, it's vital that I start looking into wedding invitations. I'm intending for all my wedding invitations to be sent out before the middle of September and I haven't really started the search. Recently I came across a few designs on Vistaprint. Vistaprint was never my choice of wedding invitation makers, until I came across this design.

I love the little flowers and the simplicity of this invitation. When dreaming of my perfect invites, I was looking for something along these lines. I'm not a frilly type of person and I don't want to invest a huge amount into invitations when the majority of them will be thrown away. I love the price range of these invitations (10 for £12.74) and I think they look rather classy. With all these thoughts pottering round my mind, I ordered a few samples and when they arrived, I was really impressed.

The card seems really sturdy, which is great as you know the wont get damaged in the post and the gloss makes them look more appealing. The text is simple yet pretty and the border looks vintage which fits in with my wedding theme.

The design is replicated on the inside of the invite, along with the same text for the information. On this sample, you can see I have made a few mistakes, but for a tester it looks really good. I've shaded my wedding date and information for privacy reasons. As much as I love you all and would love to invite you all to my wedding, I simply do not have the catering budget!

What do you think of these designs?

Chi Chi Dress

Since I got back from Ibiza, I've been feeling pretty down. The sunshine isn't anything like being abroad over here and going away for a week or two always makes home seem rather bland. Luckily the sun has been shining and attempting to raise my spirits, giving me the chance to show off my new dress from Chi Chi clothing. I love the lace bodice and the cobalt blue skirt. It evokes a 1950s playful vibe and looks amazing whilst your sipping cocktails at all those garden parties.

If there has to be one criticism towards the dress, it's that the skirt feels too big to wear during the day. The skirt embodies a fully netted skirt that really flares out. For me personally, it felt a little bit too over the top for the average day to day skater dress, but I can see it looking amazing on a night out.

One of my favourite aspects of the dress is the cute little bow finishing on the back. In this picture it's kinda go a little wonky, but nevertheless looks really pretty. The overall price for the dress is £49.99 and I think it's a great price for something that really is nice quality. Would I purchase again? Definitely.

Back from Ibiza.

Hola! Yesterday I arrived back from my amazing week away in Ibiza and boy, I've had fun. Me and my wonderful fiance have had an amazing experience from snorkelling on the beach to sailing the Mediterranean sea on a 100ft Katamaran on one of Ibizas famous boat parties. Alcohol was drank in copious amounts, frolicking on the beach was a daily occurrence and spending lots of time with my amazing man made the whole week a holiday I'll never forget.

As you can see, I've come back with pretty distinguishable tan-lines and despite being there only five days, I really feel that I've been given a nice healthy glow. The weather was red hot all week - sometimes a little bit unbearable, but for the majority of the time it was like being in a tropical haven.

Throughout all the week, I spend a lot of the evenings sampling many cocktails at the local bars. Right across from the hotel was an Irish bar, which made my irish finance light up like it was Christmas. The cocktails all had tongue in cheek irish names and my favourite had to be the cranberry mix and liqueurs mix named 'Temple bar.' Despite it being the evening time, I very rarely took off my lovely Gucci sunglasses. I've needed an excuse to wear them and this was definitely the time. I'm so glad I've come back to blazing hot English weather so I can continue rocking my favourite accessory.

So now I'm back and reality of being stuck in England has hit. It's time for me to get back to doing something that makes me equally as happy as travelling and that's blogging. Expect many reviews coming this way in the next few days, we have a lot of catching up to do.

What have you been up to lately?

Summer Party with Peacocks

With the heatwave just around the corner, I think it's safe to say it's finally British summertime and there's plenty of amazing summer inspired outfits on the high street. A few weeks ago Peacocks decided to show me a few items of their lastest range and having shopped there for quite some time, I was pretty excited. I been through the whole motion of dress sizes, from plus size to petite and having experienced how difficult it is to find certain sizes, I have to say Peacocks always used to come out as 'top trump' when I was a bigger lady. Peacocks have an excellent summer range out at the top from inspiring 50s tea dresses to eye popping florals. The dress above has a lace mid-drift which is perfect to cool you down and the floral pattern blends in with the beautiful flowers popping up all over peoples gardens.

The second item from Peacocks is this gorgeous midi skirt. I know it doesn't look obvious in this picture (hurray), but I do have a little bit of a jiggly belly and this is the first time I've found a midi skirt that hides it well. If there was one criticism, it would be that it's quite large for a size 8, but then again, with most of the high street making clothes that only fit mannequins, a little bigger can sometimes be a good thing. At £12 you simply can't go wrong.

One of my favourite items from the collection is this very elegant 50s inspired tea dress. Unfortunately I've managed to damage the zip so I couldn't wear it to show you, but wearing this dress was really a delight. It nips in at the waist and gives you an effortless hourglass figure - something most girls would love to have. My mum is excellent at sewing and has vowed to fix this dress for me, so watch this space, there might be a review about it soon.

Have you bought anything from Peacocks lately?

What's in my suitcase? So far...

Going on holiday is undoubtedly fun and exciting, but if you're anything like me, packing your suitcase can be an absolute nightmare. When you think about it, you have a small luggage allowance and you have to decide exactly what you're going to wear for the next few days. When you're packed, that's it - no turning back. I've decided to a 'What's in my bag' inspired post regarding suitcases to help other travellers get a grasp of what to take on holiday, plus it gives you all a chance to unleash your voyeuristic side and analyse my clothing decisions.

So this in my suitcase with everything thrown into it. I still have a few days to pack and still a few things to add, but I thought I'd show you what I have so far. My baggage allowance is 20kg and currently I'm on 11kg. Obviously it's important to leave space for items you're planning on bringing back home, so I aim to travel light knowing my shoppaholic tendencies.

First into the suitcase are my beautiful Madden Girl sandals I bought in a House of Fraser sale not too long ago. I love the colours and I bet they'll look fantastic on the beach. Following the scandals are my Gucci sunglasses that I wouldn't leave the house without.

Next are a few dresses. I still have more of these to pack, but so far I have two evening style dresses and this gorgeous maxi dress from New Look.  The middle dress will definitely be one of my Ibiza party dresses and that was bought from Lipsy by my fiance as a Christmas present.

As many of my readers will know, this holiday is going to be quite symbolic for many reasons. Firstly, it's my first ever adult holiday abroad due to my laziness in renewing my passport, secondly it's my first holiday abroad with my future husband and third, I've never ever worn a bikini before and after losing all this weight, I think it's about time. I fell in love with both these bikinis as soon as I tried them on. The one in the above image is from Primark and the one below is a high waisted bikini.

Due to the hot weather, it's inevitable that I'll be spending the majority of my time in shorts. I'm taking my new lace shorts from H&M and my stars and stripes shorts from Topshop, along with both crop tops from New Look.

I bought these amazing pink heels from a local boutique a few weeks ago. I think they'll be great for partying and nights out. Teamed up with a white dress, they are the perfect statement wear.

Wedges from Primark! I'm not usually a Primark girl, but these are so comfy. I'm guessing I'll be wearing these quite a lot.

A mask and snorkel and an underwater camera. I love my water sports so I can't wait to take lots of photos!

A few weeks ago I was kindly given these samples of Suntegrity's lastest range to review. It's a natural face moisturiser with a 30 SPF sunscreen protection and can be also used as a primer. Each of the products have a wonderful citrus scent and provides anti ageing properties. When I get back, I'll properly let you know how well they did in the Ibiza heat.

For now, the last things in my suitcase are my Euros, European health card - vital if you're an EU citizen travelling abroad and of course my passport. European health cards are just as important as travel insurance as they allow you to get state health care for free or a reduced rate in emergency situations. Being accident prone myself, I would never even consider travelling without travel insurance or a healthcard.

So that's my suitcase so far. I still have yet to pack my makeup and a few other essentials. I hope you're enjoyed your sneak peak into my bag and the advice I've given. One last tip, always pack in advance - it makes sure you don't forget anything!
Are you going on holiday soon?
