Happy Halloween!

I love cats. Cats are probably my favourite domesticated animal,as they give you so much love for very minimal effect. This Samhain (for those serious Halloween lovers, you will know that Halloween derives from the celtic festival of Samhain) I decided to go as a kitty cat and honour my feline friends. Unfortunately my four legged friend passed away a few months ago, but since it's halloween, I'm hoping she will pay me a visit.

Label M Haircare

Having been a hairdresser in the past, I feel that it's important for me to choose the right type of shampoo and conditioner. A bad hair day can dampen that impressive outfit you bought the other day and leave you with little self confidence. When I went blonde, I was dreaming of shiny glossy hair like Elle McPherson and instead my hair has become brittle, fizzy and dry, a hairdressers worst nightmare.

A few years ago I used a honey and oatmeal shampoo and conditioning set by Bed Head, which became part of my haircare regime for several years. Unfortunately they stop producing the shampoo and I was left devastated.

I have been on a mission to find a shampoo and conditioning set similar to the BedHead duo for the past few years and luckily for me, I came across a press release about the new Label M range, containing the ingredients i've long searched for. I gave the PR team a sneaky little email and a few days later, the shampoo came into my possession and...I love it!

This Label M Honey and Oatmeal haircare duo can be bought from Toni&Guy salons around the country. The honey and oatmeal element offers an intensive treatment for your hair, adding moisturise and replenishing those split ends.

The product is of salon quality and you can get a lot of use out of each bottle. Whilst I was studying to become a hairdresser, I was told that salon quality products are sold for a higher retail price due to the fact that they don't dilute the product. Diluting the product means that it's cost effective for high street products and that you get less use out of it. I'm sure whether this is true, but I only need a small amount of this shampoo and conditioner to make a difference to my hair.

Label M's Honey and Oatmeal shampoo and conditioner smells simply divine and remind me of 'Goldielocks and the Three Bears' whilst using it. The product is light and my hair feels angelically soft  and shiny after using it.

I really love this set and I feel it's even better than the products I've used before. I refuse to use anything else on my hair as this makes my hair feel exactly how I would like it. Alongside the Macadamia Oil treatment conditioner, I rate these the best shampoo and conditioners that I have used in a long time.

Have you used any Label M products?

Liverpool Fashion Week Closing Night

Liverpool Fashion
Last night saw the end to Liverpool Fashion Week - a night full of acrobatics, local and national fashion and lots of Liverpudlian sparkle. The wonderful Nicola from Swoon PR invited me to attend and it was an offer I couldn't turn down.

The event was hosted at The Hilton One, right in the centre of the city. I have only visited Liverpool for an hour in the past and I was overwhelmed by the amount of Beatles memorabilia and beautiful architecture in the surrounding area.

Amanda Swoon PR
We began the evening chatting and admiring the stalls on the second floor of the hotel. Immediately upon entering the event, Shoe Dazzled was the first stall to grab my attention. Catering for adults and children, Shoe Dazzled specialise in adding 'the bling' to your footwear or accessories. Under the hotel lighting, the shoes really grabbed my attention and had me thinking of all the items I could re-vamp.

Shoe Dazzled

The event started one hour late, which caused a lot of problems with my transportation and unfortunately, I couldn't see the whole show. However, the whole night really blew me away and I was surprised to see so many immaculately dressed attendees. One woman in particular, was wearing a floor length sparkling dress with her brunette hair tided neatly in a bun. She had so many people admiring her style and I couldn't help peering from a distance.

The show eventually started with a rap artist followed by two extremely talented acrobatics. Suspended at least seven foot in the air, they twirled around fabric and hoops unfazed by the audience and performing like world-class entertainment. Abbey Clancy - well known model and footballers wife was also seen amongst the crowd applauding the artists.

The first fashion show of the evening was probably my favourite. There's nothing cuter than an array of beautiful looking children doing a catwalk to songs by The Beatles. They were the true stars of the evening, walking like mini-professionals and displaying some of the sweetest looking children's clothing from Chateau De Sable.

The next brand to wow the audience was the Rule 1 boutique. There was lots of sparkle, bold colours and dresses perfect for the upcoming Christmas season. The clothing line was a mixture of bright bold colours, baroque inspired little black dresses and a big dose of peplum, glitter and long flowing maxis.

Illuminati Jeans was the next to grab the audiences attention and unfortunately one of their models was slightly handicapped. Walking on stage, she seemed to be really enjoying the show and obtained lots of support from the crowd. From her sparkling crutches to her crisp white tee, she looked absolutely flawless and proved to everyone that nothing can stop you modelling.

The final catwalk show I managed to see was by Mango. There was lots of monochromatic styles, chic black dresses and tailored blazers, giving a masculine edge to their recent clothing line.

My favourite outfit of the evening had to be this beautiful side cut velvet skirt and blouse from Mango. The outfit looked sophisticated, yet not too complicated mixed with a hint of warmth deriving from the velvet texturing. This outfit is my 2012 winter muse.

I had a wonderful evening and met so many friendly people, especially Nicola and Heather from www.inyourwardrobe.com. Hopefully we will have a chance to meet again soon.

Lush Haul

There's nothing like a Lush haul to scrub all those negative winter blues out of the way. Eco-friendly and not tested animals, you really can't go wrong. These fabulous products recently made their way to my house and I've been so excited about reviewing them.

Snow Fairy
This Limited edition shower gel is everything a girly-girl like me needs during their bath time. The product is bright pink in colour, with a hint of sparkle and it smells like fruity bubblegum. My skin feels softer and the feel lasts quite a long time - this would make a perfect treat for the Autumn.

Twilight Shower Gel

If you're hooked on sparkly vampires, this is probably catered to your personality. You can unleash your dark side with this blende of lavender and malt. Made to be used during the 'Twilight hours', this product apparently can help you drift off to sleep - although I haven't tried it,  the scent feels incredibly soothing and relaxing, so I can potentially see this happening in the future.

Ponche
Out of all the shower gels I've received, this scent is my least favourite. As the description states, the product does in fact gives off the impression of being bright, boozy, fruity and uplifting, however it feels a little bit too tangy for my liking and the Tequila element reminds me of too many bad nights out. Like all the other products, however the product does feel soft and weightless on your skin and if the scent sounds like something you would like, you could always try it yourself.

Popcorn Lip Scrub

I collected my Lush parcel on the way to work and the girls got really excited about what I had been sent, so during our break we opened it all and did lots of playing around.Having seen reactions from all the girls, I've noticed we've had quite a few mixed responses with this product. I really like it, but my friend thinks that it tastes too salty...although when I told her to take a sprinkle of the product, she took a teaspoon sized amount and covered her lips in it - no wonder it tasted on the salty side. If you sprinkle a very light dusting on your lips, I've noticed that my taste buds instantly deciphered the sweet scents, before melting into a buttery caramel taste and my friend got the opposite. We both agreed after our little dispute, that the product does work really well and later that day, we both had soft nourished lips.

Let The Good Times Roll

I haven't tried this product yet, but my Lush haul post seemed incomplete without mentioning it. Let The Good Times Roll is a maize and polenta based facial cleanser. Having tried a tiny bit on my hand, I realised that the product feels rather soft so I can't wait to see the results. I love the added bit of popcorn in the product too - I can easily imagine having a girls night in with a movie and using this cleanser.

What do you think of Lush? Have you tried any of these products?

Clarins Essential Hydration

The winter weather is settling in the neighbourhoods and the cold harsh frosty atmosphere has began leaving most people anxious about their skin. I'm one of these people. My skin suffers from extremely dry patches during the colder weather and with all the dry, flaky skin, I end up looking rather like a snow ball than a snow queen.

I was shopping in my local town a few days ago and the dreaded blistery feeling started to arrive. During the summer, I'm incredibly lucky as I have perfectly normal skin with no spots. During the winter, I look run down and my face tends to hurt.

Having noticed the signs, I walked to my local Clarins counter and asked about their skin creams. The wonderful woman directed me to their new Clarins Hydraquench Christmas gift set. The set came with three items for £33 - a saving of just above £26 if bought alone. I leaped at the offer and arrived home eagerly wanting to try it.

The gift set is primarily for dry skin and includes: a Hydraquench Cream Mask, Hydraquench Cream and a multi-hydratant serum. The products have a truly classic Clarins design making them a timeless product for your beauty cabinet.

The HydraQuench Mask

The HydraQuench mask is exactly what it says on the container - a hydrating mask that you leave on for approximately 5 - 10 minutes to leave your skin feeling wonderfully mositurised. The product is light and works like a treat. The woman at the counter told me that she leaves the mask on all evening sometimes and wakes up feeling soft and refreshed, but i'm yet to try this method.

The HydraQuench Cream
I've always been one of those people that buys skin care product and never use them properly, but having woken up and used this everyday, I have noticed my skin is definitely reaping in the benefits. My skin is looking soft and almost glowing in the winter weather and even without makeup, I finally feel comfortable.

HydraQuench Serum

According to my Clarins advisor, you should apply the serum then apply the mosituriser. The serum soaks up any excess dry skin and the cream then works it's magic on the rest. I love the serum, it glides gently on my skin with little effort and soaks up instantly. It feels light as a feather and I feel far from clogged up - something that generally happens when I use cheaper brands such as Nivea...not that I'm against them products, they just don't agree with my skin type.

As a loyal Clarins customer, I've often been rewarded with mini-treats to take home when I've purchased something. This time they have given me the Blue Orchid Treatment Oil. I still haven't used this, but none of my Clarins products have failed me yet.

Finally, my little makeup bag was turned into one of my various 'sample' bags. I get far too many samples from magazines, shops and sometimes the press, so this bag contains some of my mini products. I will be introducing you to them very soon!

What have you bought lately? Are you a Clarins fan?

My Diet Pill Experiment - 4321 Shape Up Capsules.

My body confidence varies from day to day. Sometimes I wake up and I feel proud that I've lost a substantial amount of weight and then there's some days that I look at my jelly belly and thunder thighs and think I could do with a helping hand. I'm lucky that I've always had a petite frame - when I was slightly chunkier, my belly seemed to go outwards rather than making my body broader and now, my frame acts like an illusion, making my body seem smaller due to my height and shoulders. From losing weight I have discovered that whatever size you are, there's always something to criticise and unless you accept yourself for who you are, paranoia will always consume you.

I've never been one to follow fad diets - I like carbs too much to go on the Atkins diet and as much as I love soups, I don't think liquid diets are for me either. Going to the gym and eating healthy has always been my approach, but I've always wondered if there are any miracle makers on the market? So, my for my blog research I decided to look into the wonders of 'diet pills'. Firstly, these are diet pills that can be bought from Holland and Barratts or health food stores - please avoid pills that are plastered over the internet in silly none-trusted scam sites. Also, please check with a dietician to make sure you're using them with a correctly balanced diet and I don't really recommend using them if you're a teenager - life is too short to be worrying over diet pills!

The 4321 Shape Up Day & Night capsules are formulated to work with the body's metabolism, promoting 'round the clock' slimming. They cost £11.59 for 30 capsules and are available from Holland & Barrett stores nationwide.

The tablet pack consists of two capsules, one for the morning and one for the evening - both formulated to work with your bodies metabolism at that time of day.

Directions
Take one ivory capsule at breakfast with a large glass of water.
Take one brown capsule during dinner with a large glass of water.

Morning:
The 4321 Shade Up Day capsules help energise and purify the body whilst helping speed up the metabolism. As you can see, the capsules include active ingredients such as Green Tea extract, Fennel Powder and Kola Seed power. After a few days of taking these tablets, I felt wide awake and rather active. The tablets definitely succeeded in giving me a daily energy kick and I had no weird feelings in my belly or silly headaches that I anticipated happening whilst taking slimming tablets. It felt strangely natural.

Evening:
The 4321 Evening tablets also worked really well. Instead of using more active ingredients, it included: Lemon Balm Extracts to soothe you into a restful evening, whilst delivering sufficient nutrients to keep your body working. I had several good night sleeps after taking the evening pill, although the exercise I was doing could have also worn me out.

Overall result:
Taking the 4321 slimming tablets was a great chance to see what all the fuss is about in the dieting industry. I had lost a few pounds, but due to my active lifestyle I'm unsure whether I can really credit this to these tablets and I did not last the full course, due to being really forgetful. However, they made a huge difference to my energy levels and I could see these working fabulously if I was to stick to them properly, eat healthy and lead a balanced lifestyle. Slimming tablets are not really for me as I'm very forgetful and can rarely remember to take antibiotics when needed, never mind something  that is simply for weight loss, but if I ever got to the point where I needed an extra boost, I may be tempted to try them again. After all, diets are subjective - different methods work for different individuals and just because these tablets worked for me, they may not work for others. Seeing as these are natural based tablets, it's really worth giving them a go if you're at a lose end, as there's nothing to lose.

For now, I think I'll stick with my slightly under-toned belly and live for the future. Life is too short to be worrying about your weight and as long as i'm healthy, it should be all that matters.

Have you ever tried diet pills?
