12 things to try at Christmas - Day 2

If you are looking for a brilliant all purpose product, look no further, the Viridan coconut oil is for you. As a hairdressing trainee, I was always told about the benefits of coconut oil for your scalp, but it is only recently that I have implemented the oils into my beauty routine.

Coconut oil possesses a 'healthy fat' that can be used on hair or skin to heal or protect, giving a smooth looking finish, relieved of the dry, rough texture the winter weather can sometimes give us.

The oils mixed with water penetrates the skin and acts as moisturiser, which can be helpful against skin conditions such as Eczema and Psoriasis. As a conditioner, the oil can be left overnight as a hair mask or left a few minutes for a beautiful hair quick fix - all this from a product that costs only £14 for a 500g tub.

Having suffered from Eczema myself and used this product, I had to agree that it left my scalp feeling surprisingly replenished and I was happy with the overall result.

Coconut oil is so versatile that not only can it be used as a conditioner and a moisturiser, it's also a fabulous cooking ingredient that helps boost your healthy fat intakes, although it has been said that too much coconut oil can have a negative effect. This summer it was reported that the beautiful Victoria Secret's Model Miranda Kerr credits her amazing figure to coconut oil consumption, having slipped the odd teaspoon in her salad or green tea each day. Personally, I'm tempted to cook some coconut muffins right now.

Have you tried any coconut oil as part of your beauty regime?

I've not really tried coconut oil before but after this post I am seriously considering it, especially seeing as I get really dry skin. xo

This is all so true! I've used coconut oil for years now by Nutiva. I use it for my skin, hair, cooking...it's amazing for so many things. Even pink eye & mild burns (bad curling iron moment)! It works even better on your skin if you dry brush first...omg you'll have skin like a baby!
